The reconstruction of a custom
Since a month ago that you could go to the doctor and let me in mind that there might be a small possibility that something was wrong with me, I've been thinking a lot about how I've spent my whole life taking some things for granted, like a healthy knee, not feeling pain when walking and basic but super important and necessary things like that.
In my #thursdaybehindtrauma, I want to tell you a little bit about that and how mindset plays a crucial role when there is a possibility that you might suffer from a disease. Before I continue, I will start by telling you that I am doing quite well, the medical treatment I was given has brought me a lot of relief and so far I don't think I have anything to worry about.
But even so, this situation has led me to reflect. For as long as I can remember I have had an unhealthy diet, mainly because it is cultural to eat mostly sugars, flours and all those things that are not good for the body and that are admittedly delicious. This way of eating obviously at the beginning you do not see any kind of consequence because you are young and your body, but there came a point where it begins to notice sequelae.
The food that is extremely fundamental to give life in general, but curiously also influences our emotions, our concentration and so on. I grew up with the idea of what was a balanced food, but usually this includes unhealthy foods. So that transformation I need is too important, because a lot of things depend on it.
I have been trying hard for some time to eat better, be more active and take care of my sleep, this of course is a way of care because I understand that it is the best for my health. However, understanding and knowing something does not always mean that it will be easy to apply it, so after a while I went back to the routine of eating processed or unhealthy foods, because the truth is that sometimes they are more practical.
But, knowing that and that I find it hard to be constant and disciplined with it even when I try hard, I must admit that I need a transformation in my mentality in that aspect. It's a heavy burden, living in constant struggle with you, with what you know and what you are somehow programmed to do, and that's something I don't want to carry anymore. I have thought of several things that could help me in the long run that are helping me right now.
Small sacrifices, when made on a daily basis have good and great results and although this is a logical thing to reoetirmelo every day, every time I want to give in to what my mind and my life has made its normal for so long, then I repeat it to myself and I start thinking about some of those results. For example, some of the changes I try to maintain have helped me be more productive because I have more energy and that's a great thing.
Taking care of our body and mind when you were not shown how to do it is uphill, but not impossible. And well, the ideal for me would be that just by knowing what I should do I would do it and turn it into healthy habits, but it is not like that, sometimes it hurts, exhausts and resonates the mind and somehow destroys you, destroys a part of you and what you are. To rebuild you again in a better way, and that is what I try to do.

Taking care of one's body is a journey and with time you start to see changes/results. It's quite a hard one when you aren't taught how to take care of yourself from the beginning but yes, it's possible to get that right now. Health is important and one needs to avoid some unhealthy things that can affect and deteriorate our health.
Hey! This resonated with me, as healthy diet is something I'm passionate about. I found Max Lugavere's book Genius Foods to be a great help, as the foods recommended in there are not only great from a health perspective (particularly on brain health, but other areas too), but also quite low in carbs, fresh, and all those good things we look for in constructing a diet. So I'd recommend checking that out, and also wanted to share with you this quote from him, saying
Obviously not to say you should eat junk food if that's easiest, but also not to try to force yourself into the rigidity of a specific existing diet (keto, paleo, etc.) - if that's difficult for you to keep, you will eventually break it and often bounce back into a worse diet. So the trick is to find a healthy enough approach that can work long term for you
But it sounds like you're well on the way towards that! Kudos to you! :)
