Special moments in Las Cocuizas - Henri Pitier National Park [Esp-Eng]

A few days ago, we went on a trip to a place that was extremely natural and, of course, beautiful. This place is great mainly because it is very close to our house. We didn't have to travel too far to get there, so we planned to have a barbecue a few months ago. After agreeing on different places where we could have this barbecue, we decided to have it in Las Cocuizas.

This decision was unanimous. We all agreed that it should be held there because, obviously, if we are going to enjoy a barbecue, it is much better when it is outdoors and in a place as beautiful as this one. Las Cocuizas is about an hour and a half from my house by public transportation, but if you go by car, it takes much less time, about 30 minutes.

In our case, a friend drove us there in his car, so we got there super fast and without too much effort. The plan was to go with several friends, more than 20 people, so I thought this was the most suitable place. While there was a space for cooking, the others could swim in the river or simply sit on the rocks and chat with each other. Being a completely open-air site, there was plenty of space for any activity.

Hace unos días fuimos de paseo a un lugar sumamente natural y, por supuesto, lindo. Este sitio es genial principalmente porque queda muy cerca de nuestra casa. No tuvimos que viajar demasiado para llegar ahí, así que planeamos hacer una parrillada desde hace algunos meses. Después de ponernos de acuerdo en diferentes lugares en los que podíamos hacer esta parrillada, decidimos que la haríamos en Las Cocuizas.

​Esta decisión fue tomada de manera unánime. Todos estuvimos de acuerdo en que se hiciera en este lugar porque, obviamente, si vamos a disfrutar de una parrillada, se vuelve muchísimo mejor cuando esta es al aire libre y en un lugar tan bonito como este. Las Cocuizas queda como a una hora y media de mi casa en transporte, pero si vas en un carro propio, te tardas muchísimo menos, unos 30 minutos.

​En nuestro caso, un amigo nos llevó en su carro, así que llegamos súper rápido y sin demasiado esfuerzo. El plan era con varios amigos, más de 20 personas, así que me pareció este el lugar más adecuado. Mientras había un espacio para cocinar, los demás podían bañarse en el río o simplemente sentarse en las piedras a conversar con los demás. Al ser un sitio totalmente al aire libre, había mucho, pero mucho espacio para hacer cualquier actividad.

Many of those who were there did not swim in the river because the water is quite cold. In my case, I did swim because I feel that, even though we are adults, we don't go to the river very often here in the area where we live, and I had to make the most of it. Something I loved was that if you climbed a little way up the rocks above the waterfalls, there were some parts that were much deeper. After a while, I went up with one of my friends to swim in that spot, and it was amazing.

This place is special because it was a fundamental part of my childhood. As a child, I visited this place often with my family because we lived much closer to this area, so when I go there, many memories come to mind, but they are all happy ones. Of course, by sharing these moments now as an adult with other friends, I continue to create beautiful memories that I will surely think about the next time I go.

I really liked seeing that this time the place was much cleaner and everything is protected. In fact, there are some rules that you see as soon as you enter the place, asking us not to bring horns to make too much noise and disturb others, and not to bring alcoholic beverages. This seems like a very positive thing because both excessive noise and alcoholic beverages could prevent us from fully enjoying an outing like this.

​Muchos de los que estaban ahí no se bañaron en el río porque el agua es bastante fría. En mi caso, yo sí me bañé porque siento que, si bien ya somos adultos, no vamos muy seguido al río aquí en la zona donde vivimos y debía aprovecharlo al máximo. Algo que me encantó es que, si subías un poquito las piedras arriba de las caídas de agua, había unas partes que eran mucho más profundas. En un ratito subí con una de mis amigas a bañarme en ese lugar y estuvo súper increíble.

​Este sitio es especial porque formó parte fundamental de mi infancia. De niña visitaba este lugar seguido con mi familia porque vivíamos mucho más cerca de esta zona, así que al ir ahí, muchos recuerdos vienen a mi mente, pero todos ellos felices. Por supuesto, al compartir estos momentos ahora de adulta con otros amigos, sigo creando recuerdos bonitos en los que seguramente pensaré la próxima vez que vaya.

​Me gustó mucho ver que en esta oportunidad el sitio estaba mucho más limpio y todo está protegido. De hecho, hay algunas reglas que están apenas entras al lugar en las que se pide que no llevemos cornetas para hacer demasiado ruido y molestar a los demás, y que tampoco llevemos bebidas alcohólicas. Esto parece algo súper positivo porque tanto el ruido excesivo como las bebidas alcohólicas podrían hacer que no disfrutemos del todo de una salida como esta.

But beyond all this, I cannot describe to you how my eyes took in this beautiful place. From the moment I entered Henri Pittier National Park, the climate changed completely. Being surrounded by so much nature, everything is so fresh and the air feels clean. Of course, this feeling intensified when I approached the river. We stayed in a relatively shallow area because there is a small waterfall and also because we had children with us, so we could enjoy the moment more without having to worry too much about something bad happening.

But as I mentioned, there are several places that are a little deeper if we go a little further beyond the waterfall, and even further down there is a pool that is also deep. In fact, we plan to visit this place another day with a smaller group of people so we can swim in one of these pools. But despite everything, we had a great day, joking around, talking, and enjoying that delicious barbecue, which was actually the original plan.

I was very happy that we decided to have this little get-together in a place like this because it's not usual to visit these sites in such large groups. So, honestly, the whole day was great. As I mentioned in previous posts, we are Team Rio here, so you can imagine how happy I was to be able to visit this special place surrounded by nature again.

​Pero más allá de todo esto, no puedo describirles cómo observaron mis ojos este lugar tan lindo. Desde que entré allí al Parque Nacional Henri Pittier, el clima cambió totalmente. Al estar rodeado de tanta naturaleza todo es tan fresco y se siente el aire limpio. Por supuesto, esto se incrementó cuando me acerqué al río. Nosotros nos quedamos en una parte que es relativamente baja porque está la pequeña cascada y, aparte, porque con nosotros había niños y así disfrutaríamos más del momento sin necesidad de estar excesivamente pendientes de que ocurriera algo malo.

​Pero como les mencioné, hay varios lugares que son un poco más profundos si subimos un poquito más allá de la cascada o incluso si nos vamos más abajo hay un pozo que también es profundo. De hecho, planeamos visitar este lugar otro día con un grupo más pequeño de personas en el que podamos bañarnos en uno de estos pozos. Pero pese a todo, pasamos muy bien el día, echamos bromas, conversamos y también pudimos disfrutar de esa rica parrilla que era, en realidad, el plan inicial.

​A mí me hizo muy feliz que se decidiera hacer este pequeño compartir en un lugar como este porque, por lo general, no se acostumbra a visitar estos sitios en grupos así tan grandes. Así que, la verdad, sí estuvo genial el día en su totalidad. Como les mencioné en publicaciones anteriores, aquí somos Team Río, así que podrán imaginarse lo feliz que estaba yo por haber podido visitar de nuevo este sitio tan especial y tan rodeado de naturaleza.
