Small house, more space - KISS 95
Greetings my dear friends, I am happy to be able to share again a post with you in this incredible community where we clearly see how many do wonders with little. I am happy to tell you an example of "less is more" in my daily life.
When I was a little girl I used to say that when I grew up I would have a huge and colorful house, full of furniture and so on. However, today I think very, very differently, every day the same idea crosses my mind and from my point of view a small house is my "less is more". For 3 years we lived in a small house with one bedroom, one bathroom and a small living and dining room, perfect for my husband and me.
But for a while now we have been living in a house big enough for us, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 huge office, giant kitchen and a spacious living room. But it hasn't been a day since we moved here that both my husband and I thought the same thing, the smaller the house the better for us.
A big space means more than filling, and in fact when we moved in the owners had a lot of furniture, kitchens and beds and although the house was huge, there was almost no space left. This generated a lot of anxiety for me, I felt cramped, even though this house is 4 times bigger than the previous one where we lived, plus it always takes too much time to clean.
Our plans are to move to a much smaller house and every day we get a new reason to do so, however, the main reason is that less space equals more peace for us. We don't need a lot of furniture because there are only two of us and we almost always sit in the same one, we don't need so many beds or other things that we have to spare.
The place where one lives should be a safe space where you feel comfortable everyday and not overwhelmed at all, everyone has their own way to make it possible, but in our case having a simple place where only the essentials fit is perfect and comfortable and that is our goal.
However, for now we live here and the truth is that we have also learned that sometimes when plans don't work out, you have to be adaptable and resilient, so my way of keeping it simple while we are in a spacious house is as follows:
We disassembled one of the rooms and used it as a storage room (since we could not get rid of the furniture and other objects), in it we kept large machines, the bases of the beds and mattresses and everything that came in. In a box I kept all the table and wall decorations that were there and we left the house as clear as possible.
In the case of cleaning I take my time, I know that doing everything in one day will make me end up very exhausted and sore, so every day I clean and tidy a little, this helps me not to be stressed and tired all the time. This has helped me to not live frustrated, but conscious of what I want, but grateful with what I have and looking for solutions to make it as simple as possible.
Doing this has helped me a lot, almost every day I get something new to keep in the storage room and every time there is a little more free space which makes me very happy, we will take care of the colors later. Today I am sure that what I wanted is not what I want today, because the simpler my life is, the happier I am, because less is always more.

My parents' is very large with many rooms. We thought that was cool at first, but with the many chores to do every day to keep it tidy, it gets tedious keep up sometimes.
Just like you, however, I'd really like to not be suffocated by so many items and objects in a house that's small.
I hope you and your husband get to move into your preferred home soon enough.
I also don't like to have so many things I don't use or need, and I would like to have more space for what really matters to me. I hope you can find your dream home soon. Love and thanks for reading my post.
I know what you mean about so much space being stressful! I currently live in the smallest apartment I've ever lived in in my life, but it feels much better than a large space with rooms I never use filled with things I barely remember I have. It gets messy really quickly, but also cleans up fast and reminds me not to hang on to so much... crap! lol
It's also cheaper.
I commend you on your dedication to daily cleaning. It's not a trait I nurture in myself! Luckily I'm the only human in the house that complains. Dog and cat don't care.
Hi again friend @corvidae thank you so much for your comment, I'm glad you are happy in your small apartment, I think not everyone understands the peace of mind that causes, it's comforting that you understand.
I think it's great that you have a dog and a cat, I think pets are wonderful companions, they don't complain about anything, do yours help you keep things tidy or do they mess everything up? hahaha.
Either way they are wonderful companions, thanks for taking the time to read me, big hug 🤗.
Lol, I am always asking them to do the dishes and run the vacuum but they never do. Fortunately their messes are minimal and their contribution of household harmony immense.
Oh, they are similar to husbands, only they do understand and just ignore hahaha.
Good thing they don't make big messes.
😂
I feel you. I understand the pain of living in a place so spacious that it is not needed. It takes time and effort to clean, unlike having a small space where you can happily clean and be contented with what you've done.
And, I have to commend you and your husband for working together to adapt and make the place as you want it to be.
Thank you very much for your comment, @balikis9569. Yes, it is like that although everyone has their own tastes, but the important thing is that my husband and I agree on what we want and a small house is perfect for us.
Thank you so much, we have made an effort to achieve it, thank you for your words of encouragement 💞 .
That's it, agreement matters and I love the understanding between you too towards that
You both seem to have the same taste.
You are welcome 😁.

How nice that there are always people who think the same as you about certain things, team small spaces around here 🤗 thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Many hugs.
Your logic and share make complete sense :)
I also stayed in a big house once, and it felt "empty" and a bit scary, actually.
I prefer smaller places but with high ceilings.
I would love a studio for dance and yoga and a big kitchen, though! And garden!
But yeah. I totally understand your feeling and thinking here 👍🏾
You said it well, sometimes the more things there are the more internal conflicts we have, nor all those objects and furniture fill us but on the contrary.
I hope you can get that place you want, thanks for reading me, many hugs and love to you.
