My baby's babies - I'm a cat grandma [Esp-Eng]

Several weeks ago, we went on a month-long trip. We made many plans for this trip, including leaving our kittens in the care of my mom and dad. Our kittens are very well-behaved in the sense that they never run away from home, and our only job is to feed them and keep their litter box clean. So, we left these instructions with my parents, assuming that our kittens would not cause any trouble.

However, there was something we didn't consider: our kitten, who was still quite young from our point of view because she was only five months old (which is why we hadn't had her spayed), went into heat for the first time while we were away. So, "no more sweet little girl," she behaved very badly because she ran away from home every day she was in heat. so during the time my parents were taking care of her, they spent every day looking for her on the street. She would climb onto the roof, where my parents obviously couldn't reach her, and escape.

As I mentioned, this behavior was not what we were used to, and we didn't expect her to go into heat for the first time while we weren't with her. The thing is, we were really hoping that none of those escapes would result in an accident, that she wouldn't get pregnant. However, after a few weeks, we realized that our worst fear had come true. We were going to be grandparents, and we didn't know who the father of the kittens was.

Hace varias semanas nos fuimos de viaje por un mes, para este viaje hicimos muchos planes y entre ellos, dejamos a nuestros gatitos al cuidado de mi mamá y mi papá. Nuestros gatitos son muy bien portados, en el sentido de que nunca se escapan de la casa y nuestro único trabajo es alimentarlos y mantenerles su arenero limpio, así que le dejamos estas instrucciones a mis padres considerando que nuestros gatitos no iban a armar ningún alboroto.

Sin embargo, hay algo que no consideramos nuestra gatita que aún desde nuestro punto de vista era bastante pequeña porque solo tenía cinco meses (razón por la cual no la habíamos esterilizado), tuvo su primer celo en nuestra ausencia, así que "no más niñita tierna", se portó súper mal porque se escapó de la casa cada uno de los días de su celo, así que durante el tiempo y que mis padres la estuvieron cuidando, pasaron cada día buscándola en la calle, se subía al techo a donde claramente mis padres no podían subirse para buscarla y se escapaba.

Cómo mencioné este comportamiento no era al que nosotros estábamos acostumbrados y tampoco esperábamos que tuviera su primer celo mientras no estábamos con ella. La cosa es que realmente estábamos esperando que de esas escapadas no ocurriera un accidente, que no quedara embarazada. Sin embargo, a las pocas semanas nos dimos cuenta de lo que nuestro mayor miedo se había hecho realidad. Seríamos abuelos y no sabíamos quien era el papá de los gatitos.

We did all the math we could and roughly calculated the date she would give birth, so we were busy organizing a place to put her and her babies, but the truth is that while she was pregnant with her kittens, we were mentally preparing ourselves for what was to come. I said with all my strength that I hoped she would only have one kitten, so that we could better cope with this new change.

However, the day arrived, and with it the desperate situation my cat had to go through. On June 24 at 4 a.m. and 4:45 a.m., Nébula, my cat, had two beautiful kittens on her own. Fortunately, it was quick. I made sure she had expelled the placenta and everything else and put her in a safe place, separated from my other male cat, to avoid any accidents or inconveniences.

I had already been told that since it was her first birth, she would probably have few kittens, so I had come to terms with the idea that she would only have those two. Throughout the day, after seeing her going about her life as usual, I even made sure she went to the bathroom to clean herself and that everything was fine. I was completely sure that there would only be two kittens. So at 7 p.m., 15 hours after giving birth to her two kittens, she started having labor pains again.

Sacamos todas las cuentas que pudimos y más o menos calculamos la fecha en la que daría a luz, así que estuvimos pendientes de organizarle un sitio en donde ponerla junto sus bebés, pero la verdad de tiempo en el que ella estuvo gestando a sus gatitos nosotros nos estuvimos mentalizando para lo que venía. Yo decía vamos con todas nuestras fuerzas que solo tuvieran un gatito, para poder enfrentarnos mejor a este nuevo cambio.

Sin embargo, llegó el día, y con el esa situación desesperante por la que mi gatita tuvo que pasar, por ml que el 24 de junio a las 4 de la mañana, y 4:45 de la mañana, Nébula mi gatita, tuvo dos hermosos gatitos por su cuenta, felizmente fue rápido, me aseguré de que hubiese expulsado la placenta y todo lo demás y la puse en un lugar seguro, separada de mi otro gato macho, para evitar cualquier tipo de accidente o inconveniente.

Ya me habían dicho que por ser su primer parto probablemente tendría pocos gatitos así que me había hecho la idea de que solamente tendría esos dos, y a lo largo del día después de verla haciendo su vida como de costumbre, incluso me había asegurado de que fuera al baño de limpiarla y que todo estuviera bien, estaba ya completamente segura de que solo serían 2 gatitos. Así que a las 7 de la noche 15 horas después de haber dado a luz a sus dos gatitos comenzó de nuevo con dolores de parto.

This time I was really scared, but before calling a friend who has experience with this, I decided to wait a few more minutes, and she did it again. I was really surprised at how quickly she had all her kittens, and I was also happy because it didn't take too long. She finally had three kittens, all of them completely white, even though she is a calico cat. I made sure she had clean water nearby and food so she would have the strength to do everything I was told to do.

Fortunately, everything went very well, and now, two weeks later, I can tell you that everything is going very well. My baby cat had three kittens and has been a very good mother to them. I am very surprised by how her instinct drives her to care for them, stimulate them, and feed them when they need it. The kittens, for their part, are the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life. I had never seen newborn cats before, and they were so small and cute. Now, two weeks later, I can see the difference in size.

I've noticed that two of them have gray fur with a little black. I'm not sure if it will turn black and they will have some spots like their mother, but something inside me tells me that yes, little by little they will have more colors and more black spots. Today I noticed that their eyes are slightly open, and although Nebula only lets me watch them from a distance because she doesn't like me getting too close, I can say that they are beautiful and the cutest kittens I've ever seen.

I'm waiting for them to grow a little more because the vet told me that I could only spay my cat after she was a month old. Although she has beautiful kittens and it's lovely to watch her being a mother, the truth is that I don't want her to go through that again. I know it was a very stressful and painful process for her. As for the kittens, we are also enjoying waiting for them to grow a little so we can deworm them, take them to the vet, and put them up for adoption, because the truth is that we can't have five cats at home, even though we would like to.

Esta vez me asusté muchísimo, pero antes de llamar a un amigo que tiene experiencia con el tema, decidí esperar unos minutos más y ella lo hizo de nuevo, me sorprendió mucho lo rápido que tuvo todos sus partos, también me alegró porque no pasó demasiado tiempo en ese proceso. Finalmente tuvo 3 gatitos, todos ellos completamente blancos, aunque ella es un gato vaquita. Me aseguré de que tuviera agua limpia cerca y también comida para que tuviera fuerzas todo lo que se me indicó hacer.

Felizmente todo salió muy bien y hoy ya a dos semanas de este momento, les cuento que todo va muy bien, mi gatita bebé, tuvo 3 bebés gatitos y has ido una muy buena madre con ellos, me sorprender mucho como el instinto la mueva a cuidarlos, estimularlos y alimentarlos cuando lo necesitan. Los gatitos por su parte son lo más tierno que he visto en mi vida, jamás había visto gatos recién nacidos en toda mi vida, eran tan pequeños y tiernos y ahora hace dos semanas puedo ver la diferencia de tamaño.

He notado como a dos de ellos le ha salido pelaje gris y un poco negro, no estoy segura de si este se volverá negro y tendrán algunas manchas como su mamá, pero algo dentro de mi, me dice que si, que poco a poco irán teniendo más colores y más manchas negras. Hoy he notado que sus ojos están un poco abiertos y aunque Nébula solo me deja observarlos de lejos porque no le agrada que me les acerque demasiado, puedo decir que son preciosos y los gatitos más tiernos qué vi.

Estoy esperando que crezcan un poco más porque el veterinario me dijo que solamente a partir de el mes de nacidos podría esterilizar a mi gatita, porque si bien tiene gatitos hermosos y es algo lindo observarla ser mamá, la verdad es que no quiero que vuelva a pasar por eso, sé que fue un proceso muy estresante para ella y también doloroso. Respecto a los gatitos también disfrutamos esperando que crezcan un poco para poder desparasitarlos, llevarlos a consulta con el veterinario y darlos en adopción, porque la verdad no podemos tener cinco gatos en casa aunque deseamos hacerlo.
