Direct contact with the ground

I've been stressed out lately because several things have happened to me, one after another, that have piled up into something quite significant. Yes, I had a crisis where I couldn't stop crying and urgently needed to calm down a bit and let it all go.

Of course, I am a firm believer that crying is always necessary. Feeling everything deeply, from my point of view, is also a way of getting it out of your system, but when you've felt too much, I think the ideal thing is to let it go and relax, otherwise you risk getting stuck in a cycle of emotions for longer than you should, and believe me, I know this very well because it has happened to me a lot.

Going out this weekend was not an option, as for various reasons I couldn't do it, so I had to improvise something to help myself get out of where I was. I put on some background music and lay down on the cold floor of the house where I live. Yes, the floor I had just happily cleaned. It seems silly and too simple, but the truth is that feeling the cold of the ceramic floor on my skin helped me a lot to regulate myself, without using my phone, without letting my mind wander aimlessly. It was just me and the floor, listening to some music.

I lay there for a long time and it was fine. At first, I made a conscious effort to have positive thoughts, but I quickly felt more relaxed and regulated. Although it was just lying on the floor looking at the ceiling with the naked eye, it was actually something bigger for my body. I was consciously feeling what my skin was touching, listening carefully to what was playing, and paying attention.

The music also played a fundamental role, as there were no sad songs on the playlist I chose. They were all upbeat and had a good rhythm. I chose it that way because I know from experience that, at least for me, a good sad song can overwhelm me when I'm not feeling well. While I understand perfectly well that doing this did not make any of my problems disappear, it did make the excessive stress disappear, and now I can face whatever is necessary in the coming days with greater clarity and strength.

It makes perfect sense to me that it is the simple and natural things that help us regulate ourselves, because honestly, our daily lives are full of things that are not natural, the excess dopamine to which we expose our brains just by looking at social media, everything that "makes it easier" to stay at home and order a delivery of sweets instead of walking around and looking for them, Everything is complex and I would even say false or artificial.

That's why I feel that something as simple as feeling and touching activates your sensory system. Many things fade into the background, at least for a few moments. It's incredible how daily life is designed to push this system into the background and make us so absorbed in our own thoughts and what we see that our senses seem to disconnect. But when the distractions cease to be distractions, your own body helps you deal with excessive stress, sadness, and the pressure of everyday life.

So yes, I let my body do what it should do, feel, but as it should be done. Mentally observing what happens to your skin when it touches something cold or something hard, it's crazy how something that was created to make our lives easier actually complicates them, and suddenly a normal body, which feels, experiences, and needs to activate its senses in the right way, comes to be considered obsolete.

It's a good thing to know what to do to help reduce the overwhelming situation we find ourselves.

Like you, music also helps me a lot. It doesn't mean the problem goes away but it does help in ways I can't even describe.

Thank you for sharing.

Should I call this a therapeutic way of releasing stress? As cold as the floor is—the warm body touching the floor, fusing together the chills and warmth on the skin, that would be a sparking feeling. Argh! As long as the aim is achieved, its worth giving a trial.
