Cleaning and reorganizing as emotional therapy

In me there is nothing more relaxing and therapeutic that gives me so much peace as it does to reorganize and clean my environment, I'm not saying that I enjoy doing housework or something like that, because honestly there are tasks that are a bit annoying and if I could I would avoid them, I mean more the result of finding a clean and smelling good place, which causes in me the order.

At home there are days when I have more energy than others, but when there is stress or I feel overwhelmed for some reason, even if I don't have the strength or mood I really like to reorganize the house, that is, move everything from the place where it is to a different one. Currently I live in a house that is not my own, the negative thing is that it has furniture and different artifacts that if I could I would get rid of without thinking, but as I can not my way of feeling better is to move them from place to place.

Many of these pieces of furniture I have kept in a room to use it as storage, but since there are so many, the truth is that there is not so much space and I have to leave a lot of them in sight. I must confess that the fact that there are so many things in this house makes me a little anxious, because it makes me very happy to have a room with only the necessary things, I have learned to live with it and every so often I clear the whole room to clean it very well and I change the place of each thing.

I learned how much good it did me by chance, but since then I haven't stopped doing it and made it a kind of therapy for me, So sometimes when I don't feel so good whatever time it is and whether it seems weird or not to other people, I start moving furniture and organizing everything differently and voila I feel much better. In trying to understand how this worked for me, I learned that emotionally being able to move and rearrange, makes you feel like you can rearrange inside as well.

I actually used to think it was a bad habit because I used to make other people uncomfortable, and in fact very few people I know do it. Until in therapy I learned that it's a good way to drain our negative emotions so we can have room for positive ones. This is something that I don't only do at home, recently while I was traveling in the city of my husband's family, I asked permission to reorganize the room where we were staying, it seemed strange to them but they let me do it and I was simply organizing my thoughts in the whole process, it should be noted that it is not something I do in all the places I only go to where I feel confident.

So although it is an exhausting activity and requires physical effort the truth is that I can assure you that it has a positive effect on you, at the end you feel satisfied with your work and everything looks different, from another perspective, I feel a kind of peace when I realize that my efforts have their reward. So I can say that one way I can relax and forget about all the stress of everyday life, is to clean and move all the furniture in the house to a different place.

This is not something I do every day or even every week, but every once in a while I take the time to do it, when I need it the most. And the result is always positive, I clear my mind, take out all the garbage or in this case the negative thoughts and emotions, clean and finally organized everything in a different way, this could be a purely physical activity, but for me it is mental, plus I really enjoy seeing the different places every so often.

Does it works for you? As an anxious woman myself, I've tried to entertain me by cleaning and doing multiple stuffs at the same time, it mada no difference at all.

It always feel refreshing and peaceful when we reorganise spaces just for us to feel the warmth. I don't like having spaces get stuffy, so I tend to minimise hoarding stuff and keeping the space free enough for easy access and movement.
