The disturbing notifications
Among all the digital pet peeves that I know, the one that I hate the most is unwanted notifications, and these come from different spots on my phone. Pexels
There are some apps on the phone, system-based apps that are frequently used, but they also keep dropping notifications, piling up the notification bar. Sometimes, even when they are swiped to be cleared off, they do not wipe off; they stubbornly remain there, and I dislike this so much.
There are also some apps, especially browsing apps like Opera Mini, Phoenix Browser, and others, which are very good at notifying users about various news, weather conditions, and space cleanup methods. I think I hate this type the most.
Another in this series is Telegram notifications. For someone like me who does not use Telegram as a chatting social media app, I frown very badly at the endless notifications that come from the app. This mostly sprang up from joining many channels via airdrop hunting, and most of the channels require manual notification muting, which can be very tasking. I hated this so much too, until I found my way to get over it.
How I dealt with all this:
The notifications from browsers: there are no two ways about it, I did not need any notification from these browsers because I was not using them for social media or to get chat notifications. I just went to the app settings on the phone and turned off the notification option. I did not need the weather forecasts from the browsers; I also did not need the phone storage info and space cleaner notifications. I just turned off the notifications and had my peace. They are still operating in the background, but as long as I am not getting notified and piling up the notification space, I do not care.
For the Telegram app:
I still needed some notifications to give me reminders on those airdrops, so I could not just head to the app settings on the phone to turn off the entire notification. Instead, I had to do the bit-by-bit method, which involved going to the channels and muting them individually. I only left the channels I wanted to be notified about unmuted. With this, I do not get disturbed or distracted by the notifications.

There are many digital pet peeves, but this notification aspect is the one I hate the most. This is why I control it with everything in me. lol.
Even in my social media notifications where I make my conversations, I limit the notifications that come my way. Some months back, I loved it when WhatsApp introduced the feature where someone can only be notified in a group when they are tagged, otherwise, there is no notification for the group selected that way. It feels so good.
Another pet peeve I hate is one most people do not consider a thing or a real pet peeve. It is how social media is becoming more video-based. Like, everything is gradually turning into TikTok. Gone are the days when we could skip, but now, posts are more of videos. Data is very costly these days, and using social media sucks it very badly due to the video-everywhere pattern.
Thank You!

These pet peeves are so annoying. That notifications from Phoenix browser is on another level. I relate well with the telegram one too. Even after exiting several groups and channels, I still get these notifications. Those are mostly the notifications I always clear even before they fully land on the notifications bar.
