If you love someone, walk up to the person and express your feelings

I know a lot of people who say that ladies also walk up to guys to tell them they like them. This sounds so uncommon to me because I haven't seen it, and I keep wondering where such things happen, because I haven’t seen that in my area.

The song by African China and Faze, titled "If You Love Someone," made this lifestyle appear so common, but I guess it's only common in the virtual world, the movie world, or probably in highly developed countries with lifestyles that don't make this act appear as an abomination.

This song, in its lyrics, stated that "if you love someone, walk up to her and express how you feel about it because it's not a crime." This does not only apply to the male gender, no, it's also telling the female gender to do so.

I have seen in movies where this act happens. I have also read on social media where ladies go about confessing their experiences when they approached a guy they liked. While the social media aspect may be true somehow, I still find it unbelievable. Maybe those people are making up the stories. But also, there might be a bit of truth in them, though they don’t happen commonly.

I have heard people, especially ladies, say it's a taboo to do that because it doesn't always end well, because the guy may take them for a fool or see them as being too desperate.
Me too, if I happen to get approached by a lady, I would take it as the lady being too desperate. Even if she's not desperate, that would be my first impression.
I guess that's why ladies in my country don't do that. But that's just my thought, though, because I have read stories about a lady who summoned the courage to approach someone, and they ended up getting married. That story is not an African story but one from outside Africa.

I really wish we could change our mentality about this poor attitude, but that is not looking like it's going to happen, because it's been there for ages.

Thank You!

It not unusual my dear.
My elder brother's current girlfriend asked him out first. It has not been long he told us the story, and kind of opened my eyes to reality
