Demon City: The demons in the City
If you're looking for a 100% action-packed movie with brutal killings and well-executed graphics that make the knife slashes more eye-catching, Demon City is highly recommended by me.
Honestly, I didn't check to see the year this movie was released before I jumped into watching it. If I had known it was this year, 2025, I wouldn’t have decided to watch it, because I was sure the modern technology would have spoiled the fun with too many graphics and uncalled-for scenes. But this is so real and entertaining.

Demon City is an action-packed, revengeful thriller, a Netflix Japanese movie released earlier this year, 2025. It’s about an assassin, Sakata (Toma Ikuta), who did his last job as an assassin and quit to go back to his hidden family, who were only known by his friend. But little did he know that the demons in the city(masked men) had already found out about his family through his trusted friend.

He got home, the masked men came to his house, killed his wife, shot his only daughter, 3 years old, and shot him to die too....he actually died.
After 12 years, we saw him come back to life. How he survived the gunshot is still unknown to me, as nothing was shown as a flashback, nor was anything said about it.
So that’s where the revenge began. I knew it was going to lead to that, but all I was looking out for was the twist on how he’d get to hunt them down, because the masked demons are top politicians in the city. Also, they have power, heavy security guarding them, and are highly trained in martial arts.
The twist about his daughter, who was shot and believed to be dead, is another interesting part, when he was told that his daughter wasn’t dead. That fueled his revenge spirit even more, pushing him to fight to the end. The pains of sword slashes to his body were no longer a thing to him. He just wanted to fight to the end and rescue his daughter. Shockingly, his arm was slashed off, and he still fought with one hand.
It’s very entertaining, with good characters who played their roles very well. Although it’s my first time seeing those actors in movies, or maybe I have seen them before but didn’t take note, they all performed excellently. Even those in well-dressed styles, their martial arts were more deadly than expected, because I thought they were not going to be up to the task.

The only thing I frowned at is how Sakata survived the attack that happened to him, because he was shot in the chest, was seen dead, and after 12 years, we saw him in a coma. The producers could have added a little explanation or a flashback to show what happened. It was revealed that his friend, who leaked the information about his family, was the one who saved him, but how? That we don’t know.
My rating is 7/10.
It wasn't a bad movie. But I didn't like the way it ended though. The action was just on point
