Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Here we are again, another weekend in the absolute monotony of what it means to watch a Formula 1 Grand Prix. It seems like deja vu or that I am repeating something I wrote weeks ago, but no, the fifth race of the calendar took place in Asian lands, more specifically in China, after 5 years, if my mind does not betray me. One would expect that as the weeks go by the teams would discover which are the failures and improve them in order to give a better show and obviously a more optimal performance but that is not being seen, what we are witnessing is a brutal stagnation of the almost 10 teams. Red Bull because they do not know what they need to improve and the rest are not even able to make a slight shadow to the Austrian giant.
But it happens that award after award one has the illusion that things change a little, that the trend varies and other results are given to see if the wind turns in another direction, something very similar to what happened in Australia, but it was not the case, in China again we saw an exhibition of Max Verstappen, from the Sprint race to the main race. But as I already mentioned that is not the worrying thing, the tragic thing is that not even Verstappen's own teammate, Checo Perez, who in theory has the same car as the Dutchman, could get close to him this weekend. If that happens between them, what will be left for the rest? - Well, what we have seen, differences of 14 seconds with the second positions that yesterday corresponded to Lando Norris.
And all this happened in a race where there were VSC and two SC, which are supposed to be incidents that help to "balance" a bit the times and distances to make the competition more even. With all this, Red Bull's leading driver made such a difference, it seems that there is nothing to do but to hope that there will be a problem with his RB20 that will leave him out of the track, because competing in equal conditions there is no way to reach his pace and level. And if you saw the race you will realize that it was boring as hell, almost 10 laps lost between the Safety Car that gave nothing to the spectator.
But then, nothing happened? - Well, Bottas retired due to mechanical problems, Ricciardo was the victim of the worst driver on the grid this season, if Lance Stroll who took him in the middle and the Japanese Tsunoda who suffered a touch by Magnussen who is another driver who is not a bad driver but is very tough and competitive on the track. The rest was more of the same. Sargeant continues to be a burden for Williams, fifth race and has done nothing for the team, one of the strangest decisions I've seen has been his continuity in F1 and surprisingly, or not, Alpine continues without scoring. This is the most "relevant" in the lower part of the table, now let's go with those a little higher.
Mercedes left China still being the fourth team, something that I am sure no one in that team is happy about. It is strange because Hamilton looked very good in the Sprint race being second but then they changed the setting of the British car and for the race he starts eighteenth, an absurd and senseless step backwards. Aston Martin is another team that did not finish the race, supposedly they went to China with improvements and they were not seen, Alonso had flashes in the race itself, overtaking Perez and getting second but then the car began to take its toll and could not keep up the pace, he finished seventh. Ferrari did not have a good weekend either, Sainz did not look fine and Leclerc was a little more consistent, even so they left without a podium which I am sure was not in the plans seeing what happened in past races.
And the McLarens for me are being very inconsistent, Norris finished second but Piastri eighth, they are always scoring which is the important thing but do not quite give the differentiating step. Anyway, as you can see, this race was an x-ray of what we have seen throughout the season. Red Bull at the top, followed by Ferrari and McLaren third. And in the drivers' table, Verstappen increasingly alone at the top followed by Perez with Leclerc, Sainz and Norris very close to the Mexican. As hope is the last thing to be lost, let's hope that in two weeks, in Miami, we will see something different and we will have real competition and excitement and not a repeated play that already bores even the most fanatic of all.
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Hugs to all, see you next time!
