Cada vez estamos más cerca de que esta temporada de béisbol culmine ya que nos encontramos en la última semana del Round Robin, para algunos ha sido una bendición, para otros no tanto. Cuando comenzamos hace un poco más de dos semanas todo parecía estar bastante parejo en cuanto a lo que habíamos visto en la temporada regular; la realidad es que en esta postemporada muchas cosas no han sido como nos imaginábamos, en lo personal esperaba una competición un poco más equilibrada pero en el béisbol no sabes cuando los slumps, desconexiones y estado de ánimo te puede afectar, porque si, por lo menos con los Leones del Caracas, Bravos de Margarita y con los Cardenales de Lara pensaría que han sido un poco de estos factores los que han afectado el funcionamiento y producción de dichos equipos.

Al ser algo sumamente corto no te puedes dar el lujo de estar mal en un departamento, no quiere decir que no sea normal, pero tienes que buscar la manera de remediar esa situación lo más rápido posible. El único equipo que no ha sufrido tanto son los Tiburones de la Guaira, un equipo compacto, con una ofensiva extraordinaria y que hasta el día de hoy tienen una marca de 10-3 siendo los primeros clasificados a la gran final. Honestamente me sorprendió mucho el paso arrollador de ellos en este Round Robin, los veía competitivos pero no al nivel de lograr pasarles por encima a los demás 4 equipos con tanta facilidad. Si que es verdad que en los últimos dos juegos pareciera que han bajado la marcha por los han perdido los dos pero igual dan a entender que este 2024 pudiera ser "el año" de ellos.

La clave de este equipo, como ya lo dije ha sido la ofensiva. Estamos hablando de que hasta hace un par de días tenían en sus filas al líder de carreras impulsadas, al segundo y al cuarto en AVG con .415 y .390 respectivamente y al segundo y quinto en carreras anotadas siendo Yasiel Puig la verdadera bujía de los escualos. Estas dos últimas derrotas son para que sus fanáticos se preocupen? - yo diría que no pero si algo vi es un poco de desgano y apatía en esos juegos, no quiero pensar que ya están pensando en la final porque llegar en buena sintonía es clave para que el equipo mantenga la buena energía. Este béisbol es muy cambiante, acá no se puede dar nada por hecho, hay que batallar hasta el final.

Un equipo que a principios de este Round Robin comenzó con una marca de 0-4 y que muchos dieron por muertos allí están, anclados en la segunda posición dependiendo únicamente de ellos mismos para verse las caras contra La Guaira en la final. Jugadores como el veterano Hernán Pérez, Jermaine Palacios e Ildemaro Vargas han sido los precursores de este despertar y encarrilamiento. Lara empezó apagado, al parecer era un tema dentro del propio dugout con ciertas diferencias, algo pasó allí que a partir de ese punto de inflexión el equipo reaccionó y se vio en una ola ganadora y de buen juego que los llevó a donde están hoy en día. Ellos han sido muy consistentes durante toda la temporada, eran los favoritos de muchas personas y creo que para mi, siendo de otro equipo, lo siguen siendo.

Lastimosamente no puedo decir lo mismo del equipo que me representa, los Leones del Caracas han tenido un descenso brutal en todos los departamentos de juego. El Caracas llegó a ser el segundo equipo más ofensivo de la temporada por allá en octubre y noviembre con la mayoría de su lineup por encima de .300 de AVG, solo por detrás de los Bravos. El tema es que el slump colectivo en el que entró este equipo es bárbaro, jugadores como Noriega y Rondón que fueron intratables apenas batean cerca de los .200, en realidad es todo el equipo salvo un par de jugadores. Sin bateo no se puede ganar, porque el detalle también es que ese bateo oportuno no lo están teniendo, muchos jugadores en posición anotadora son dejados en base por la incapacidad de empujar carreras.

El pitcheo abridor ha sufrido también, no tanto como lo esperado pero si ha sido un poco mermado y el relevo, en teoría el punto fuerte de este equipo, igualmente ha sufrido mucho para controlar los juegos. Ejemplo de ello fue el partido del martes ante los Bravos que por culpa de un pelotazo con bases llenas en extrainnings se perdió un juego. José Alguacil, manager del equipo, ha sido muy cuestionado por decisiones extrañas que ha tomado a lo largo del Round Robin. Yo no soy de criticar tanto pero si que es verdad que cosas raras se han visto en los juegos.

En cuanto a los Bravos les digo que para mi fueron la decepción. Esperaba mucho más de ellos, la pelota que jugaron en la temporada regular fue espectacular en todos los sentidos, por algo su manager se llevó el premio al mejor del año. No están eliminados aún porque matemáticamente hay posibilidades pero si que es verdad que los veía mucho más arriba que donde están. El punto fuerte de ellos fue la ofensiva, la mejor de los ocho equipos, y este Round Robin se apagaron mucho. Los Tigres de Aragua, ya eliminados, nunca estuvieron en la pelea, de hecho clasificaron de carambolas con juegos extras. No fue una buena temporada la de ellos, en la temporada no se vieron bien nunca y se sabía que no sería diferente en esta instancia.
As for the Bravos, I can tell you that for me they were the disappointment. Quedan pocos juegos, 3 o 4 aproximadamente y nada está definido. Si Lara gana todo lo que les queda, están clasificados. El Caracas no dependen de ellos, tienen que ganar todo y ligar que los Cardenales pinchen en algún partido. Y Bravos pues ligar el doble de que los de arriba pierdan siempre y ellos ganen para forzar al algo por ahí. Veremos...

Yo tengo el presentimiento que habrá un juego extra por el segundo puesto de la clasificación a la final y personalmente espero que Lara, Bravos y Caracas estén envueltos en esos dos juegos extras, eso es bien emocionante.
Me ha sorprendido leer muchas opiniones sobre que esperan que sea Bravos los que lleguen a la final.
Es que Bravos durante toda la temporada fue un equipo que siempre estuvo en la pelea, mostraron cosas muy buenas que en este Round Robin no se han visto. Además, esos que dicen eso serán magallaneros o los propios de la Guaira y otro equipo eliminado.
Con que Lara pierda uno y los demás ganen todos, se arma ese escenario. Habrá que ver.
Todo llega a su final, pero esperamos que sea con mucha emoción y adrenalina, cada equipo dará todo por el todo para llegar a la final, que gane el mejor
