Yesterday in the "Movies & TV Shows" community, I talked about this film from the perspective of someone who loves movies, based on things outside of the purely sports world. Today, from this forum, I want to do the same, but with a keen eye as a fan of this motor sport. Personally, it's hard to turn off this chip, and if I didn't, I probably wouldn't enjoy the film. Fortunately, that didn't happen. But as with almost everything in life, one has opinions on a multitude of things, and today it was the turn of this film, which is breaking all box office records.

Making films about sports is complicated because they usually tend to exaggerate everything for the sake of the plot and entertainment. We see inexplicable things and feats or situations that would never happen in reality. The premise of this film is that an experienced driver, one assumes very close to 50 years old because he once raced with Ayrton Senna, makes his return to F1. This can happen in reality, of course, but not so lightly. Having a driver of that age in a single-seater is something unlikely, basically due to the physical condition required, in addition to the filters involved in landing in the top category, considering the amount of time he's been away from it.

For those who don't know, Lewis Hamilton was part of the production team for this film, which is why many of the on-track situations are very believable, but especially the atmosphere surrounding the paddock. Personally, there were two incidents during a couple of races that truly impressed me because they're things we NEVER see in a Grand Prix. We know that Formula 1 has FIA regulations (which they enforce as they please, but that's a different story) that are, in theory, very rigorous. To give you an idea, Sunny Hayes is a cross between Räikkönen and Magnussen when it comes to reckless driving. This guy intentionally causes a pair of VSCs and damages two front wings in the same race without any penalty or warning.

He has a very different way of seeing and understanding racing. For Hayes, winning is a must, no matter what, and if that means running over road signs or deliberately leaving gravel on the track to delay the race and thus gain or reduce his advantage, then that's something he'll do without hesitation. A few weeks ago (I think it was in Hungary), I remember Alonso deliberately forming a train of drivers to save his tires, a maneuver that was hotly debated and discussed. These aren't illegal, but they can fall under the issue of morality. The same thing happens in this film, but multiplied tenfold.

I feel like the film compiles certain things and masses them. The other fact is an accident that has many similarities to the one Guanyu Zhou experienced at Silverstone, along with Grosjean's fire in Bahrain; they combined the tragic aspects of both. The way this accident happened is IMPOSSIBLE. Rain, almost 300 km/h in Monza, and a car flying like a rocket. But as I said, it's a film whose purpose is to be impressive and entertaining. The film closes with something very similar to that legendary race in Abu Dhabi between Verstappen and Hamilton in 2021. It's a production that has many nods to real events that I think only a fan would be able to notice.

So, is this worth watching? 100%. If you've already seen it and understand the sport, I'm sure certain parts impressed you, either because of their improbability or because of how well-done it is overall. The onboard footage is so accurate that it actually feels like a real race. Few sports films pay as much attention to detail as this one. As a fan, I really enjoyed it. In the end, the fiction takes over a bit, but that doesn't mean it's not a film that's very faithful to this wonderful sport. If you haven't seen it yet, don't hesitate.
