MUSIC: Three Tune Tuesday 135 - 3 Songs on the Theme of “End of December” (Hive Open Mic Week 194)
Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing to you from Cape Town in South Africa!
Welcome to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 135 overall! My current pattern for how I will be contributing to TTT is to take the Hive Open Mic challenge Theme of the Week and give suggestions on how I would tackle it!
For those of you who are not familiar, the Hive Open Mic is a weekly challenge on the Hive Open Mic community for anybody who loves to sing. You don’t even need to play an instrument, a backing track or a cappella is also fine as far as I can tell!
Different artists are given the chance to choose a “Theme of the Week” that the posts should be based on. Often it can be difficult for people to think about easy songs that might fit that theme… so let me see if I can be of any assistance to the people who still might not know what to try by the time Tuesday comes around!
All right! Let’s get cracking!
Here is the post inviting everyone to participate in this week’s Hive Open Mic (Week 194):

As you can see, it was the turn of @samuelstifen to pick a theme, and this week the theme is “End of December”!
Now I suppose any song to do with Christmas or New Years Eve would be perfect for the theme, but what else might work?
I actually remember 3 songs with the word “December” in the title:
SONG NUMBER 1
Let’s start in 1975, ten years before I was born, when “December 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” was released by Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons:
SONG NUMBER 2
How about a song that was released in 1995, when I was ten years old stealing my slightly older sister’s music… This is “December” by Collective Soul, and it has a fantastic riff for a kid starting to learn the guitar a few years later! It also has a great example of two vocal lines riffing off each other towards the end of the song that I hope @clairemobey and I can be inspired by in the future!
SONG NUMBER 3
Finally let’s go one year later to a song called “A Long December” by one of the bands that seemed to personify the mid 1990s… Counting Crows! “Nah nah nah nah… yeah!!”
So that's week 135 done and dusted! I hope that gave some people some ideas on how to tackle the Hive Open Mic Challenge this week? Perhaps I’ve even inspired one or two new people to give it a try? Please let me know!
hello, thank you for giving a good presentation about the month of December, here we know that this theme is quite free to choose songs for this theme, hopefully with this theme we can give about December as our own version😇✨
I really like all of your song choices. But if I had to choose just one, it would definitely be song number 1, "December 1963 (Oh What A Night)".
Great selection Jasper!!!
