This is thought provoking, thanks for sharing!

Electricity at home is one thing... having no electricity in the community is another. I'd probably be able to live without electricity at home.

After 14 years as a web designer, I thought I'd crumble without it. I once couldn't pay the bill and found myself in the dark. literally.

I had to remain professional. My clients didn't need to know it's been tough at home. I kept working at my usual coworking space where I kept up appearances, but home was different.

Without electricity, a strange peace settled over me. When the lights flickered back on days later, I kinda missed the electricity detox.

Without the hum of electronics—no Internet, social media, news, TV—my mind finally slowed down. It was as if my brain had been dancing to a chaotic tune all this time.

I took baths in darkness and read by candlelight. The house was silent, and we finally were able to play with the jigsaw puzzles, and made noise in the suspense of a falling Jenga tower.

Could I live without electricity?

For some reason I have actually "lived" in those days more than when the lights were on. If not for my job, I'd probably lived this kind of choice sustainability.
