Maternity Photo Session in Black and White [monomad]

Hello everyone!!!

A few days ago I did a studio maternity photography session. I hadn't been given the opportunity to do this kind of work for a while now, so I was pretty excited. 😁

We took a huge bunch of photos but there are some that from their beginning were made to be in black and white.

I was very sure that I was going to use backlighting and high key for some of the portraits. Some of the high key photos I left in color but black and white is so special!

Another aspect we took into account for some of the photos were the nudes or semi-nudes, which are a very common type of photography in maternity sessions, where the purpose is to highlight the silhouette of the woman and her beautiful and so-full-of-baby bump.

My client, and friend of our makeup artist, is named Daylin and the baby in her belly is named Jade. She was super cute to work with because even though she was 34 weeks pregnant at the time, she was very open to our suggestions that involved changing positions. Pretty exhausting under normal circumstances, not to mention carrying all that extra weight.

Maternity photography is very lovely to do, it gives a lot of tenderness and can be very creative with the lighting. Something I was also looking for was that in all the photos there was not the classic posture of the mother holding her belly, which I don't think is wrong at all, but I don't like to abuse this resource when there are so many ways to highlight the transformation that occurs in the female body during pregnancy.

Hola a todos!!! Hace unos días hice una sesión de fotografía de maternidad en estudio. No se me había dado la oportunidad desde hacia rato ya de hacer este tipo de trabajos, así que estaba bastante entusiasmada.

Tomamos un montón enorme de fotos pero hay algunas que desde su inicio fueron echas para ser en blanco y negro.
Tenía clarísimo que iba a utilizar el contraluz y la clave alta para algunos de los retratos. Algunas fotos en clave alta las dejé a color pero es que el blanco y negro es tan especial!

Otro de los aspectos que tomamos en cuenta para algunas de las fotos fueron los desnudos o semidesnudos, que son un tipo de fotografía muy usual en las sesiones de maternidad, donde se busca remarcar la silueta de la mujer y su hermoso y tan-lleno-de-bebé vientre.

Mi clienta, y amiga de nuestra maquillista, se llama Daylin y la bebé en su pancita se llama Jade. Fue superlindo trabajar con ella porque a pesar de contar en ese momento con 34 semanas de embarazo, estaba muy dispuesta a nuestras sugerencias qu implicaban cambios de posiciones. Algo bastante agotador, en circunstancias normales, ni qué decir cargando todo ese peso extra.

La fotografía de premamá es bien linda de hacer, da mucha ternura y puede ser muy creativa con el juego de las luces. Algo que yo buscaba también era que en todas las fotos no estuviera la clásica postura de la mamá sujetándose el vientre, que no creo que este mal, para nada, pero no me gusta abusar de ese recurso cuando hay tantas formas de poder destacar esa transformación que se produce en el cuerpo femenino durante la gestación.
