Shopping with Mom & Greenwich Stop
21 October 2025
For the second time, Mom and I went to the city for another errand. On our first visit, we stopped by a foodpark at McArthur Park, an iconic place in our province. This time, we headed to the bank. We hesitated at first because of the gloomy weather, but it was pretty urgent, so we had to go. My sister tagged along after her classes. Since we’re all usually busy with our own things, we rarely go out together, so I treasure every trip and hangout like this.
After finishing our business at the bank, we were walking along a street lined with shopping centers when we spotted a thrift shop. Mom and I love thrift shopping. We sometimes find branded and almost-new items that have just been stored for a while, which is why they’re sold at a cheaper price. We found 10 or 15 good items, and spent a few hundred pesos in this shop.

Afterward, we headed to the mall to shop for household essentials. I’m really glad my sister came with us that day, otherwise, I would’ve been carrying most of the shopping bags myself. Of course, I can't let my mom carry heavy stuff. Having a big family also means higher daily expenses. Groceries and other necessities run out fast. Most only last a week. I can’t deny that money really plays a big role in our lives.

Christmas decorations have been everywhere since September. As you know, the Philippines has the longest Christmas season.

We start feeling it as soon as the first “Ber” month arrives, and it lasts until the start of the new year.

I’m planning to decorate our house next, probably by the last week of October or the first week of November.
After shopping, we dropped off our bags at the baggage counter so we could walk around freely without carrying heavy stuff. That way, we could explore the mall and just pick up our bags before heading home. Clever idea, right? We just hoped the staff wouldn’t notice that our bags had been sitting there for too long, lol.
We planned to eat outside the mall, but when we saw Greenwich on the ground floor, we decided to dine there instead. My mom doesn’t really like walking far, so she prefers places that are nearby. We’re total opposites because I enjoy walking around.

We visited this place a year ago with my siblings, niece, and mom. Our first impression wasn’t great, but we decided to give it another chance, lol. I guess we didn’t have much choice since there’s no Jollibee or McDonald’s inside the mall.

What were you thinking, Ma? 😅

Last time, we ordered a set with fried chicken, rice, and lasagna with garlic bread. We also got a pizza, but we ended up taking it home since we didn’t like the taste. This time, we ordered another set with fried chicken, rice, and pizza.

As you can tell, there were more carbs than protein on our plates, lol. We just wanted to try the pizza again, but honestly, there’s still nothing special about it. I’d rather buy the cheaper pizza from our town. It tastes much better.

It was almost dusk when we left the mall and headed home. One reason I like going home at that hour is because of the view. I love watching the sunset by the shore as it shimmers on the water. It gives me such a calm and peaceful feeling every time.

After that day, I told myself, I'll bring my niece to the city next time.
Thanks for your time.

Mom is getting older and can’t work a far distance like you. Every trip with family should be treasured indeed. That was a beautiful trip you guys had. I also love thrift shopping because of the cheaper prices and one benefit there is that the clothes are always of good quality.
I love the smell of Christmas decoration already happening. Gone are the days such things are done around here but I can’t seem to see any nearby. Perhaps they are in other areas but the Ember months sure is always exciting because December is around the corner.
I still miss Hong Kong's grand displays every November to Decemeber hehe

I love the sunset. It's so nice having a bonding time with your mom.
In the thrift shop, did you get something? The price is affordable 20 pesos only.
I'm glad you're going out as a family, it's very stimulating.
Wow, they are Christmas lovers in your country. Here they have just decreed this month of October as the beginning of our Christmas.
I like pizza but my son and I always eat it from the same place. It is very unpleasant to have that feeling of a delicious pizza, bite into it and have to see our disappointed faces.
Nice photos.
not a fan of pizza actually, but I eat when there is haha

Looks like you had a great time! I really liked the photo of your thoughtful mom, haha. Cheers!

The real reason is actually to save electricity, haha, we will be using it for Christmas lights, of course. If I start so early, then my bill will spike, lol
!LADY
Yes if using lights that is a good reason. I can't really speak on the matter I dont decorate at all.

I love shopping at Thrift shops especially when I find a good quality piece that multi-fits into my wardrobe or for my kids. I save so much! How's the family business going?

It's fine.. but getting fewer customers since rainy season.. it's understandable, that's I prefer to have an ecart so I could travel to places with more prospect customers :(

Oh yes you guys and your Ber months lol! I have not heard that until now this year.
The thrift shop is interesting, is it owned by a person or company. Here they tend to be run by charities and in theory most of the money goes to charity as they are staffed by non paid volunteers.
Hehe. It made me remind that I visited shopping mall long ago.
The foods shared here looks delicious. I wish I could also taste it also.
