My Cute Visitor and Work Distractions

A few days from now is already Christmas. That's how fast the days pass by! That is why, this morning, we already set up our Christmas tablecloth! I was just so excited. Even the kid at home was so happy to see it. Who doesn't like Christmas, anyway? With or without presents or a fancy celebration, it is still an important season for all of us.

Moving to the main topic of this article...

I had a visitor last night! My brother's family paid a visit, so I got to see my other niece again. Our kid at home was also happy to see her because she finally had a playmate.

Seeing them together again made me smile. They used to fight back when they were younger (they are still young, though). They fight over a tiny toy, space on the couch, and even over who gets to stand closer.

But as they grow, they treat each other differently. From rivals to close little friends.

Now at two and three years old, they are a bit more understanding, more playful, and a lot more jolly. They now spend most of the time playing, sharing toys, and chasing each other around the house. They took over my table and distracted me from work. They cut papers again, which Breiana likes doing, especially on my table. Watching them so close and playing without fighting felt like seeing a new chapter of their little friendship.

I thought it was....

But of course, small misunderstandings and jealousy still popped up among toddlers.

I opened YouTube so they could watch while cutting papers. I thought it was a good idea, but it wasn't. One wanted to watch a certain video, while the other disagreed.

I received a few pouts here and there, but ended up with both of them crying and wanting to watch the video they wanted to watch. There was also a funny moment when I let the younger one sit on my lap, but the older niece suddenly felt jealous. She always wants that spot, too.

The solution? I gave my other phone to the older niece and allowed the younger niece to use my computer while sitting on my lap. Once the older niece got my phone, she didn't mind who would use the computer and sit on my lap anymore. That was quick, lol. The bonding moments became two little worlds of their own.

I regretted opening the YouTube channel. Phones and videos can really be distractions to kids nowadays. As much as possible, I really want them to play traditionally, not digitally. But sometimes, their emotions are simply out of our control.

Still, my room was filled with chaos (especially in the aftermath, like cut papers were all over my place, and a messy bed), giggles, and tiny footsteps. I felt happy and thankful seeing them grow from little rivals into playful friends (with small misunderstandings). That's understandable, haha.

Relationships can really change and grow beautifully at such a young age. They should be, because they are cousins!

Thanks for your time.

I've been through this computer time phase between my sons.
Monitor their activity.
And make sure they don't get into social media, they are far too young and are not able to discern what they learn from the Internet.
