Matcha Lover: Here's My Homemade Matcha Oreo Ice Cream

6 September 2025

I first discovered my love for matcha while working in Hong Kong. At first, I was curious about its taste, but eventually I fell in love with its distinct flavor and nutritional benefits. So aside from the classic teas Hong Kong is known for, matcha became one of the drinks I always look for whenever I visit cafes and restaurants.

Why do I love Matcha?

Matcha isn't new to you, that's for sure. It originated in Japan, making it the biggest exporter of matcha powder worldwide. What I love about this finely ground green tea powder is its high concentration of antioxidants and chlorophyll.

Since I have a sensitive stomach and sometimes experience digestive issues, I typically opt for foods and drinks that are rich in fiber and antioxidants. Matcha is one of those drinks rich in both.

When I opened my business, I seriously considered adding matcha to our drink menu, despite its price. The main reason? So I could have matcha anytime I wanted!

I recently shared here the drinks on our menu and it includes some matcha-flavored drinks, like matcha milk tea, matcha latte, matcha oreo, and strawberry matcha.

Out of them all, the pure matcha latte is still my top favorite.

Having matcha powder in stock also means I get to experiment with recipes at home. The recent recipe I made was Matcha Oreo Ice Cream.

I bet you guys know how to make this since it's so easy using simple ingredients.

Do you remember the messy cookies and cream ice cream cake I made for my sister's birthday?

I used part of that ice cream to make this matcha version.

As mentioned in the previous article, I used Injoy soft serve ice cream powder.

I then mixed with all-purpose cream and condensed milk, to make the ice cream. Then, I added a few scoops of matcha powder and crushed Oreos.

After mixing it well, I put it in the freezer until it set. That’s it—easy, right?

If you don’t have ice cream powder, you can just whip up a mixture of all-purpose cream and condensed milk. Whipped cream actually works even better if you want a creamier texture.

And here's my Matcha Oreo ice cream.

It even looked more enticing when combined with the cookies and cream ice cream cake. The cake was a leftover from the birthday.

And here's our Matcha Oreo latte.

I bet it's a perfect pair with the Matcha Oreo ice cream. But that would be too much. For me, nothing beats enjoying a pure matcha latte on its own.

Now that I share this recipe, do you want to try?

Give it a try. You might just fall in love with matcha the same way I did.

Thanks for your time.

Oh wow, this is so good! I'm buying Matcha tomorrow! 😊 Lately, I've been hearing from people that it's very healthy, but I haven't tried it yet because I'm always put off by the price, but it's worth buying because it's healthy.
