Love vs Family, I can't leave my better half because of family hates

You meet your better half, the love of your life, someone you believe you can’t live without, but you find out your family hates him/her and never wants you two together. Are you going to runaway with the person? Convince your family? Ignore them? Leave your partner? Or do something we probably aren’t thinking of? What would you do? .

Case's like this are common in Africa. In most cases, some parents do arrange a wife or husbands for their children in the village. So, when he or she came back from the city to introduce the love of their life's to their family, a war will broke up. Some went as far as killing their son's or daughters for marrying whom the did not approve.

But why do some parents engage in such things? Some might have borrowed money and want to pay back or show Compensation by being inlaw's. Some might be good friends and to strengthen their bond, they will want their children to marry each other. Others might think that, as parents, they know what's better for their child. But in today's world#Hiveghana, the case is different because, we have freedom of choices and everyone goes to what's best for them.

Marriage is not something one can choose for somebody because it's a long time engagement. So, if my family doesn't approve the love of my life, first thing i will do is to check reasons behind their refusal. For instance, if we are related in anyway that will make us not to marry, fine i will agree with them. Because, in some cultures, it's a taboo to marry anyone who's related to you.

But if theirs no any good reasons of that nature, i will try to convince them to see the potentials on him or her. I let them know how comfortable i am with my partner. Because, it's about my happiness not theirs, if they insist, i will ignore them. Two, if am still leaving in the family house as a man, i will get a comfortable apartment for both of us. If I'm a woman, i will ignore them as well and plan along with my partner. I won't just run away with him or her but make it official that we are husband and wife. How?

• Knowing it too well that my family is against my relationship with the love of my life, and both if us has made up our minds to settle down as husband's and wife's, we will arrange for court marriage. Yes!! I will let my family know about it if it's necessary. And if they still maintain their still, i will go ahead to higher family members or father and mother. Those who will present with me in the court to represent my family members. After getting our marriage certificate, it's obvious now that we are one family, we both can comfortably move to a new location where those families won't set their eyes on us for years.
  As times goes by, they will definitely want to see us. So, I won't let family decide for me whom i will love or marry. Because, my dad's and mom married because they love each other, so no one will stop me from marrying whom i love. It's my happiness not theirs
