RE: Sign of the Times: Clamoring for Attention

I've seen a similar trend in many forms of media where originality degrades into an appeal to the lowest common denominator and chasing trends on many websites and podcasts, in bands wanting to "stay relevant" as the music I dustry shifts, etc. Even here on Hive, there are incentives to churn out schlock for short-term benefits just to keep the clicks coming. Of course, "late-stage capitalism" is the usual shallow analysis, but I don't think that's really getting to the root of the issue.
