He didn't choose between death and life. That choice was imposed upon him by a violent gang. He wasn't in the middle of the protests, and at most on the periphery. The psychos approached him. Nothing he has been shown doing was wrong. We have an out-of-control police state, and staying silent may not be an option for long.
