#Wednesday Walk - Watching the Clouds Disappear in the Valley of a Thousand Hills

This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.

If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.

Last week, I shared how we were "Looking Down on the Clouds in the Valley of a Thousand Hills".

Today, I would like to share with you how we watched the clouds disappearing in the Valley of a Thousand Hills.

So, let's start off with some darker photos, just after sunrise...

In the first photo, against the background of white clouds in the valley, you can see the silhouettes of some farm buildings (the farmhouse to the extreme right in the photo), on a hill on the opposite side of a gorge below me.

Moving up higher and looking out over the valleys, with colours becoming barely visible in the first light of day. Here, the clouds still covered the valley like a blanket.

In the next two photos I was just playing around with images I saw in my mind. In the first one my focus was more on the clouds behind the grass...

...while in the second photo I focused on the grass in the foreground against the clouds.

Then I saw this little shrub against the white background of the clouds.

Zooming out on the same scene to get the bigger picture...

You can see the day is becoming brighter.

I liked the following scene with this tree next to the road and the sun becoming brighter on the left hand side.

Gradually, the cloud blanket started getting thinner in the valley below...

As time went by, the scenery below became more visible.

I always love taking photos of this rock formation whenever we come to this area. This is a popular spot for rock climbers. In the valley below, you can see a part of Inchanga. This part of Inchanga is populated mainly by a black community. On the horizon in the background, some industrial buildings in the Cato Ridge area are visible. You can see that, although the view is slightly "misty", there are basically no more clouds in this area.

I decided to get in the car and take a drive to the opposite side of the valley. We went to the Pot and Kettle, a popular family style restaurant in the area.

Also being a tourist attraction, there was always a little craft market next to the Pot and Kettle. But a sad sight was awaiting us there. The Pot and Kettle is still up and running and fully functional. But it seems like the recent floods we had in the area, were just to much for the craft market to handle. All the little buildings are empty and it's a sad sight to see with a lot of damage to most of the buildings that was situated lower down.

Yet, I was still able to go to my favourite spot to get some shots of the valley below.

Just below the buildings I found a nice spot in the shadows of the bush. I was able to get some nice shots of the valley, now clearly visible, from the "dark" cover of the bush. In the distance, you can still see a little cloud blanket in the valley below.

I'll end this post with my last photo, slightly coming out of the bush ( as far as possible), to get a clear shot of the valley below.

And that's it for today, folks.
