#Wednesday Walk - To The Gillits Waterfall via Molweni Trail

(Edited)

This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.

If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.

Last week I shared some photos I took while walking the Molweni trail toward the Gillits Waterfall. The idea was to show you some of the scenes along the way and give an idea of what the area looks like.

Well, as promised, today I would like to share some photos of the Gillits Waterfall.

One moment you are still walking through the dense forest, and the next moment it opens up and the waterfall becomes visible...

You can then cross the river over this wooden bridge to get closer to the waterfall from the opposite side.

After crossing the bridge, you turn to your right, walking around the "pool" toward the waterfall.

Getting closer to the waterfall...

Looking up toward the top, just left of the main waterfall, admiring the rocks covered by all the greenery. A little bit of water is coming down here as well though.

I had to cross through a bit of water (about ankle-deep) to get behind the waterfall, but it was worth it...lol!

Moving out the one side to get the bigger picture from behind the waterfall.

We had an amazing time at the waterfall and after spending some time there, we eventually decided it was time to start the journey back to our car.

First, walking back in the same direction where we came from, but instead of turning left, and going back over the wooden bridge, we would now turn right, following a different route back to the starting point.

All along the trail, we spent some time capturing the beautiful detail of nature. There was so much detail, I feel it would justify a post on its own.

But let me give you an idea of what I'm talking about...

So, next week, I'll share the really colorful detail we encountered along the trail.

Thank you for reading my post! I really do appreciate it!

It seems like one more thing we have in common...the love of waterfalls and listening to the sound of the water flowing. The sound was awesome. I just stood there for quite some time...soaking in the sound of the water coming over the edge...
