#Wednesday Walk - Enjoying the Change of Seasons in the Durban Botanic Gardens.
This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.
If you want to know more about the rules, visit the Wednesday Walk Community, started by @tattoodjay. You will find all the rules there if you want to start posting in this great community.
Last week I showed how spring was in the air while we were walking down Jan Smuts Avenue in Winston Park.
This week I would love to continue focusing on the change of seasons here in Durban.
For this purpose, I couldn't think of a better venue that...the Durban Botanic Gardens.
Arriving at the Durban Botanic Gardens.
Walking into the Durban Botanic Gardens, it was as if I could sense the feeling of Spring in the air.
It was a colourful scene awaiting us with inviting green grass, complemented by colourful flowers.
The change of season was almost tangible, and I realised how spring brings a sense of renewal to me every year.
The Walk
I wanted to go early in the morning for better lighting to take photos of some colourful scenes. But it wasn't practical as we had other commitments later in the afternoon, and we decided to combine the activities into one trip to save on gas.
So, we found ourselves in the Durban Botanic Gardens over midday.
There are various pathways you can follow. It was a peaceful atmosphere with wide open spaces, yet I was presented with enough opportunities to stay in the shade, capturing the calmness with some light shining through from above.
One of the pathways presented me with an opportunity to capture this shot of "dryness", seen through a window of greenery.
Along the way, we were admiring some spectacular scenes with beautiful colours such as these...

There were several ponds where we could also enjoy the peace and quiet and just admire the reflections in the water.
What you don't observe in the last photo above, if you're not aware of it, is the bird quenching his thirst on the opposite side of the pond.
Then he decided it's time to take a bath...lol
Some more bird (duck) life we enjoyed at one of the other ponds.

Enjoying the Finer Detail of Spring
At the end of the walk, we found what I would call a mini "hot-house". I realised as I worked through my photos, I should have taken one shot of it from outside, so you can see what it looks like, but I guess I'll have to get that shot next time...lol.
I would call it a hot-house, as they clearly provide more consistent, controlled humidity to the plants in here.
But let's enjoy some of the colourful details of spring as we find it here.
Also, check out these two nice little water features in here,

I had to smile at this fish that kept returning to the little waterfall...as if he was enjoying the "shower"...lol.
Just standing here, admiring the colourful scenery in front of me, with the sound of trickling water from the water features, really had a calming effect on me.
Reflection.
Sometimes the best walks, the best outings, or adventures, are the ones where we simply slow down and walk slowly enough to notice the small things, like the details of the changing season around us.

Darn! You got some spectacular photos from the botanical garden! I like those with the bathing bird, and fish who enjoy the shower! They are so cool! ❤️
This year, I visited only 1 botanical garden, but it was a really nice one... Now that I saw your walk, I reminded myself that I didn't do a post about mine! What's sad to see is that not many people appreciate those places, which, on the other hand, bring a lot more calmness and peacefulness to those who do.
Thanks for sharing your walk! I enjoyed it!

Hi @ph1102! Thank you for stopping by and for your positive feedback! I do appreciate it!
I'm glad you enjoyed my photos👍! I always love watching birds while they are bathing! They always look so happy and carefree while bathing themselves.
I do agree with you on both points... Sad on the one hand that not many people appreciate these places, but on the other hand, it brings more calmness and peacefulness when there aren't many people around. We have been to this particular garden before on public holidays, and it seems to be busier on such days and even during holiday seasons, though. But on this particular visit, it was nice and quiet.
Maybe you can still do a post about your visit to the botanical garden when you have the time. I would love to see it!
I'm glad you enjoyed my post! Have a great day!
That looks like such a lovely park to walk in and you've captured some great shots there!
Some gorgeous flowers and the little pink gumboots on the ducks, how cute are they!
Great to see you still here @jacoalberts!!!
XXX
Hi, @chocolatescorpi! Yes, I'm still here😅! How are you doing?
Thank you for your positive feedback! Yes, I couldn't resist taking some shots of those ducks...haha!
Great to see Jaco!
I really wish I could be and stay as consistent as everybody else but just too much to do in real life and not enough time to fit all that in plus this in..
I'm currently in Thailand volunteering at Soi dogs, and have been here for almost 2 weeks and have another two weeks to go then off to Malaysia for the #HiveFest!
So excited about that!
And then looks like I'll be escorting a friend to Turkey in December for a surgery and then a bit of a holiday in Greece after that too!
And then at some stage, I've gotta go back down to Melbourne and probably pack up my apartment and either move to hopefully Thailand, or far north Queensland.
Or maybe even just stay in Melbourne, not quite sure at this stage.
It's a truly extraordinary garden, excellent photos, the gardens are beautiful, the flowers are so pretty and colorful.
Thank you for stopping by and for your feedback, @robertoasl! I do appreciate it!

I love botanic gardens, and you got lots of great shots of that one, my friend. I always loved spring when I lived in colder climates, though I imagine that your spring there is quite a bit different than the ones to which I was accustomed. 😁🙏💚✨🤙
Thank you, @tydynrain👍! I appreciate your positive feedback! Yes, we have a tropical climate here, so I suppose it would be different from the climates you are referring to. But it is so true what you say...it's all about what you are accustomed to.
Have a great day!
