Some Typical South African Landscapes.

I consider myself still very new to the photography scene. I have always enjoyed taking photos, but since I started sharing my photos here on Hive, it soon became a hobby that is now turning into a passion.

As part of my learning process, I decided the best way to get some practice is to put it out there...

I love being outdoors and I love nature. So it was a no-brainer for me to start taking photos while being out and about.

Today I would like to share some shots I took of some typical South African landscapes.

The first photo is on the outskirts of Shongweni, outside Hillcrest, west of Durban, South Africa.

While visiting a farmer's market, I spotted this waterfall just below the market.





From there, we go a little north-east. We go down a little winding road behind Waterfall, east of Hillcrest, toward the Inanda Dam.

Pulling over to the side of the road, this is looking out over the Inanda Dam.

Then we move more inland. Pulling over in Botha's Hill, this is the view of the Inanda Dam.





Still further inland, going west, we arrive in Monteseel.

Turning off on a dirt road on the outskirts of Monteseel, this road takes you around the Monteseel area.

Monteseel is a small residential area in the Valley of a Thousand Hills.





Pulling over on the side of the road, these are some of the shots I took from there.

With the houses now behind me, I started walking down to the edge. I found some members of a rock climbing club busy doing their thing.

The lady who is visible in the photo was keeping a watchful eye from the top while some of her friends were climbing down.





Getting closer to the edge, this is a typical view...





Moving a little to the left, yet another beautiful view.





Let me take you further inland now.

Let's go to the Tala Collection Game Reserve. This game reserve is located south of Camperdown, which is about halfway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

Over the past two weeks, I have shared a number of photos from the Tala Collection Game Reserve, focusing on the wildlife in the reserve.

With today's photos, I want to focus more on the landscape. Although you will see some wildlife in some of these photos too, the focus was more on the scenic landscape, and for me, the animals just add to that feeling of a typical "African landscape"...

The first photo is a typical example...with animals also in the photo.





Another peaceful scene...





As you can see, it was a cloudy day when we were in the reserve.





At times, we would be driving around without seeing any animals, but the scenery was beautiful. It was relaxing to just slowly drive around and enjoy the utter silence and peaceful surroundings.
