Good heavens!! As I read this I could see the whole scene in my mind and I thought to myself...this is not what you would call an adventure... Rather a nightmare, or like you call it, "an experience", but definitely not an adventure. An adventure is something you are supposed to enjoy and I can see no joy in having this kind of experience. I'm just glad you were able to find your way out, using the blade of the paddle!
And then still having to walk barefoot over thorny patches with a canoe on your head? Definitely no fun in that. And again, I'm glad you made it out and that your are able to share those memories with us today.

Ha, I wrote the adventure part tongue in cheek, as you are correct that it was a disaster. The place where we stayed on the second floor was swamped and we had to vacate in a hurry. A first for me to see their jetty, anchored by big chains gradually rising up by the water levels, and then simply being snapped off to float away. A big, uprooted tree's branches smashed the lower floor's windows and as the water started to turn the tree the branches ripped the windows and their frames right out. A terrible occasion, but by grace we were saved.
