Ending 2024 on a High Note... On Table Mountain (Part 4)

Since the beginning of this year, I have shared images of our trip to Cape Town. And I still have many photos that didn't even make it into these posts! Yes, I took many photos...lol!

And believe me, even though I still have many more photos from this trip, we only covered a drop in the bucket of what can be done and seen in this beautiful part of South Africa.

Today is the final post about this trip, and also the final post of our walk on Table Mountain. Just our walk on Table Mountain alone, were covered in 4 parts (including today's post).

If you want to see the other images taken on Table Mountain, you can find them here:

Enjoying the Last Moments in the Clouds!

We decided that it was time to go down after we spent just about the whole afternoon on the mountain. Although the clouds slightly lifted, we were still just below, and sometimes almost in the cloud.

In my first image for today, you can see what I mean with the cloud right above us, just allowing us this beautiful view of the city of Cape Town, as if from under a canopy.

Looking to the right, more suburbs of Cape Town are visible as far as the eye can see...

Walking Back to the Upper Station.

We slowly started moving back toward the Upper Station to return to the bottom again.

In the next image you can see both the Upper Station in the left upper corner of the image, and the Lower Station in right bottom corner of the image.

I still had enough distance, and zooming out to he max with a 18 - 55mm lens, I managed to get both stations in the same image.

DSC_1529.jpg

We moved closer and one of the cable cars became visible on it's way to the top.

DSC_1513.jpg

I followed it's journey up toward the Upper Station...

DSC_1518.jpg

Almost there...

As the cable car moves into the cloud, the Upper Station now becomes visible just above it...

DSC_1519-1.jpg

We eventually got closer to the Upper Station. As we approached the station, the clouds slightly lifted again.

Activity Close to the Upper Station.

As we approached the station to join the queue to get in the next cable car, we noticed some activity to the left of the station...

Some mountaineers were climbing Table Mountain and the first guy was just about at the top.

In the next image, I zoomed out to get the scene in more perspective.

Further down, a second climber became visible from behind the rocks...

Can you see him (in the middle of the photo)?

DSC_1556.jpg

I zoomed in as he became more visible.

Reaching up to get grip to climb higher.

Changing my angle to capture the depth of the scene.

Capturing some more action in the next two images.

DSC_1563-1.jpg

Zooming out again, to get the full scene including both climbers.

DSC_1567-2.jpg

Taking a break and scanning the next part of his route.

DSC_1570-2.jpg

He then turned and it looked like he was looking straight into my lens...

DSC_1571-1.jpg

But the queue started moving and I couldn't follow the rest of their climb.

I always hate queues and I just want them to move... But this was one time I wished we could just wait a little longer...lol!

We also didn't want to leave the queue as we then would had to get in at the back again...😅

Back at the Foot of the Mountain.

We got into the cable car and enjoyed our journey of approximately 5 minutes (if I remember correctly) to the bottom of Table Mountain. Part of the fun while travelling in the cable car, is that the floor inside the cable car, slowly turn a full 360 degree which enables you to get a full 360 degree view during the journey.

Once we arrived at the bottom and we came out of the Lower Station, it was a bright, sunny day with a beautiful view over Cape Town from the foot of Table Mountain.

And that's it for today, folks!

Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!

(Edited)

heights have always been a bit of a problem for me but wow, have you captured one of our most special, local, South African and even Global treasures so beautifully with your photography. Table Mountain is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of The world and it's not hard to see why! As a Capetonian, our mountain is a huge part of who we are. It guides us as aa compass so we never get lost, although I'll guarantee you that it never looks the same. It changes every day, depending what mood it's in! Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

I love these kind of hikes where you also have to climb or like Via Ferrata. Your price is the view at the top. Awesome!
