It is not that shocking really as this material is used in pillows and I have seen it before but never recognized it as being flax. They pull the fibers out to fluff it up so for me being more dense in it's current form is actually rather good.
I guess it just looks funny to me because I have never been around or seen anyone talking about using them in another industry besides cigarettes. I am frequently reminded about all that I don't know.
The flax plant is similar to cotton and for as long as I knew about this it was only used in the cigarette industry.
