The ink well nonfiction. Time reveals it.
I bought a wristwatch from a watch vendor who promised and assured me it was gold and I was convinced to believe all that he said simply because it looked like one.
My picture
Just to discover later that the so-called watch is actually a silver colour and not even real silver, I sat to watch closely at the drama that happened between that period, then I discovered that there is more to what has been presented to you.
All you need to do is just take a little time and it will definitely show if it's actually what it's said to be.
“Transfer letter is out”
This was the information we got in our place of work as our current manager will be transferred to another branch and we will be getting a new manager from another branch.
We were glad and excitement filled our hearts as we couldn't wait for Mr Felix to leave. He is too fragile and he doesn't have an interpersonal relationship with the people working under him. He is always pompous, we never liked him so we all prayed that he would leave in no time.
The new manager is a calm guy as they said and we all were happy also considering the fact that he is young.
Having a young manager will help us to even rapon better as junior staff with him as our manager not Mr Felix that is a bit advanced in age and so will not even give room for nlt even a hand shake with us jeez!!
One week after we got the information, the transfer took effect and of course our almighty Mr Felix was moved to another branch but in the same city I had no problem with because the only time we will get to meet is when we will be gathering, maybe for a social gathering or party.
So we welcomed our new manager Mr Dickson who we immediately abbreviated to be Mr D. It was fun at first as he organised a welcoming party for him. It was fun but I discovered that the party was held only with the staff in our station and none of the staff from the other station was invited.
I was sensitive enough despite the fun but it doesn't mean anything. This might be just for him and maybe too acquainted to know us but then he should also know people from the other branch as well since we are working under the same umbrella with the same motive.
The party finished in no time as we all went home excited. We resumed work the next day with the gist of what had happened the previous night. We all laughed as we worked with more ease.
Then gradually the golden watch began to fade.
The young Manager we prayed for began to turn into our nightmare as our lives were no longer considered. He extended our closing hour by 1 hour which is very risky for us.
We complained but all to no avail as he began to reveal himself. We discovered that he laughs and smiles a lot but then is far more dangerous compared to what we thought.
Not long one of my colleague's wife gave birth an the norm is that we the junior staffs go to visit thereby creating a better relationship and even staffs from the other branch also makes themselves available that's how it use to be but Mr D stopped that sweet relationship with a replacement that we all will organise and go as team which he never did and that made the guy feel bad.
And so another colleague of ours gave birth this time no one could make a move as it will look like been sentimental so we waited for order from the managers so we could do that visit but it never came then another gave birth but invited just the manager another group of people from the same office leaving several others uninvited but then the information got to us that were not invited. Of course we have nothing to do since we were not invited, my mum will always warn that when I am not invited I should not go. That's a simple way to keep your respect.
Not long after, the manager's wife soon gave birth and the same thing happened as some group of people were invited, leaving others in the dark.
This is the man who is supposed to unite but it unfortunately turned the other way round.
“The devil you know is far better than the angel you don't know.”
This statement is actually true.
We no longer have that interpersonal relationship with ourselves as staffs since we are no longer treated equally, some people are been treated specially as a matter of fact those group has been moved gradually into the same shift they all work in one shift while the rest of us are in the other shift thereby keeping us in a total dark.
All we do is just go to work, do what we are supposed to do and leave as important messages are communicated to them only and we get messages that are not elevating.
Thank God our salaries come from the head office. I wonder what it would have been like if we were being paid directly from our branches.
Now we know the true worth of the watch we bought as it has faded beyond recognition.
What we thought it was was not what it is.
Mr D the scatterer we all tagged him that name knowing fully well that everyone is now on his own.
This story really hits deep. It reminds me how time reveals the truth behind appearances just like that fake gold watch. People too can shine at first, but only real character lasts. Mr D truly faded like cheap metal. Powerful piece.
In my town, there's a saying: "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't." You experienced it firsthand, discovering that Mr. D was a terrible manager.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Good Monday.
A fairly comprehensive story that interweaves the thoughts of several characters and the difficult situation they find themselves in, another case of surprising deception, where not everything is as it seems. Regards @iyimoga
Thanks
