Growing up in a semi urban area was a bit challenging. It was a small community in a riverine area. As a developing community, Electricity supply was epileptic and sometimes it could get so worse that we could stay for days without a flash.
Sometimes, My parents would travel and we would stay alone. On a particular day, they left as usual to return the following day, we played, ate and slept when the night came.
We are usually supposed to wake up by 5am to prepare for school. unfortunately, the clock in the house was bad, the cell phones were switched off due to low battery, so there was nothing to use to check the time.
We only had to depend on the sound of the cock crowing in the morning.
We woke up as soon as we heard it, started preparing and we finished, usually it takes us an hour to finish up.
We finished preparing and we waited so long for the sun to rise, but if took so long,
It was then we realized that we had woken up earlier than expected. Nonetheless, we stayed up anticipating the sun. There came this bright light shining through the glass window. I opened the curtains and behold It was the Sun.
I screamed "IT'S THE SUN"
