Invisible dog ||daily free write prompt

‎Some years ago in a small town where I grew up, there was a mysterious story that went round.
‎
‎The town has a big river that connects to the ocean and also has a bridge a long bridge connecting two towns.
‎So one time someone shared a scary story about a dog who lived somewhere under the bridge and would usually come out at night to pursue pedestrians. The story also had it that someone was bitten to death by the dog.
‎
‎Although some people didn't believe the story, but it made rounds and was terrifying to me. I was disturbed because I was a regular pedestrian on the bridge.
‎It was the shortest route to my church. Coupled with the fear I already had for dogs I had to change my route to a longer one. It was so stressful.
‎One day I got tired and decided to face the fear.
‎I walked pass the bridge by evening when the sun was almost invisible. It was scary though. I carried a huge stick so I could hit the dog if it came out but the invisible dog was no where to be found.
‎
‎I came to realization that the invisible dog was fictional.
