I wish he had helped me!

I wish life worked in a way where we got everything we wanted, but it doesn’t. Life doesn’t always go the way we plan; it comes with many unexpected twists that force us to reflect and realise that someone greater is managing it all. And maybe what we need to do is surrender our lives to that higher power and live by the rule of “go with the flow.”

In our family, standards are set in a way that if one person does something, others are expected to do the same, and it just keeps going like that. This has been happening for years. No one even asks the person what they actually want to do, or what their wishes are. And that’s where my formula comes in: go with the flow.

Something similar happened with me. When I finished my 8th-grade exams, my family told me that I would do the same thing my cousin had done. They didn’t even ask me whether I was interested in it or not. They only saw that my cousin got a job after doing that course, so they thought I should do the same, so I could get that job too.

Because of all this, I ended up doing a Master’s in Computer Science. At the same time, I was also working a job because I had to support my family while continuing my studies. This went on, and within two years, I completed my Master’s. After that, I left the job I was doing and started looking for a job related to my degree. I couldn’t find one, but through a friend’s reference, I got an internship at a software house and started going there.

After working there for a few days, I was given a task. I put in my full effort to complete it, but I couldn’t do it. In the end, feeling defeated, I went to the owner of the software house and explained my problem, asking if he could guide me a little. But he refused and said, “This task has been given to you, so you’ll have to complete it on your own.

Still, I didn’t give up. I kept trying the whole next week — searched online, tried everything I could — but I just couldn’t solve the problem. I went back to the owner and said, “Sir, I’ve completed the rest of the work, but I’m stuck at this point. Please help me here.” But he again said no. “You have to do it yourself.”

We all know that constant rejection breaks a person — and the same happened to me. I got disheartened and didn’t go back to the software house the next day, and I haven’t gone back since. I wish that sir had guided me or helped me out. Maybe today, I would have had a good job. Right now, I’m free.

But now, these are all just "if’s and don’ts." What’s meant to happen, happens — whatever is written in our fate. That’s why now, I just go with the flow. I try to enjoy whatever is happening. You should also stop focusing too much on what’s happening around you. Instead, focus on yourself, and let life happen. Stay hopeful — because whatever happens, will happen for the best.
