Preparing my Coffee using a Percolator
Hi, Coffee Lovers! It's my first time posting in this community. I am not a coffee connoisseur but I am here sharing with you my love of drinking coffee here in France.
Back in the Philippines, I was a coffee drinker of instant coffee and 3-in-1 coffees. Just add hot water with the coffee powder, and voila, you can drink your coffee instantly. Most of the time, I add powdered milk to it or coffee mate.
I wasn't allowed to drink coffee because of my hyperacidity. When I was drinking black coffee at McDonald's, my heart was palpitating. Hahaha!
If I go to coffee shops like Starbucks and Bo's Coffee, I just order chocolate blended milkshakes. For many years, I never drank a lot of coffee.
Drinking Coffee here in France
I arrived here in France pregnant so I was not allowed to drink coffee. I have no knowledge of any coffee brands here except the familiar brand I know. After I gave birth to my firstborn child in the hospital, finally, the midwives gave me coffee together with my sumptuous first meal. My first official coffee drinking was in the hospital.
My father-in-law loves to drink coffee every morning. I also told my husband that I've been craving coffee since my arrival while pregnant because the smell is so fascinating. My FIL shares his coffee from his percolator.
Coffee machine or percolator?
I had no idea what was the real name of this machine so I kept on saying to my husband to buy me a new coffee machine because the old one I was using from his father got damaged. He bought one for his father and one for me. I didn't know that a percolator is expensive. He bought it for about 40 Euros, which was already a discounted price.
This is how I prepare my coffee
I wasn't able to take a photo of each part of the percolator. Before I put on the coffee powder, below is that I pour water first.
Pour water inside
Add coffee powder
The next part is where I put the coffee. This thing separates the coffee and water, and there's a tube where the water passes through the coffee.
Put the percolator in a gas stove, I am using the electrical stove.
When the water starts to boil, that's when the water goes up. After you put the coffee powder, you need to close using the last part of the percolator. The process of boiling water plus coffee is the result of having coffee. Sorry if my explanation is terrible. And I don't have photos of the actual pouring of coffee into my cup. Hehe!
Just waiting for it to boil
It's funny to see how my kids react when the water starts to boil. My kids were like, "Mama, coffee!"
J'adore le café au lait!
I love coffee with milk
Since black coffee is too strong for me, I always put milk in it. J'adore le café au lait!
Eating French baguette with peanut butter or fruit jam with butter
Of course, I miss eating bread in the Philippines with coffee so I have the French baguette for my breakfast.
My day is complete every time I drink coffee with milk. It gives me energy to stay awake throughout the day.
YouTube video on How to use a Percolator
Anyway, I found a YouTube video on how to use a coffee percolator. This is helpful for you to understand with a correct explanation. I am not really familiar with what each part is called.
Do you use the old way with percolator or are you using the new coffee machines that are more expensive?

I totally would love to own this percolator, looks like a much easier way to prepare coffee. Though it is expensive.
Thanks for sharing such an informative post with us
Yes, it’s easy to prepare and quick. 😁
It looks like Moka Pot that is being used by some small local shops in our country. Depending on the coffee beans used the taste will be affected. I always go with the barako coffee beans in Batangas the smell lingers!
Haha, no idea that there’s another name for that. I should have called it a coffee pot and not coffee machine. You are a coffee connoisseur, wait baka wrong spelling ako.
Haha nakaka miss kaya minsan yong 3 in 1 natin dyan Pero naalala ko sobrang tamis bad for health na.
HAhaha dami nga choices of coffee dito.
HAHAH

Reading your post made me want to have a freshly brewed coffee. In my house we don't have a coffee maker so we use the traditional cloth strainer.☕
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
A happy day with lots of coffee.
Oh, that’s good to know there is another way to prepare coffee.

Hello @itravelrox
I do love the rich strong blend that a Moka pot produces, and this reminds me that I should look for a replacement now that I'm in a bigger city where there's a TK Maxx.
Thanks for stopping by to share your story with us:)
I used to have a smaller version. This one, 2 people can enjoy coffee. But when I’m alone, I a man drinking 2 mugs of coffee with milk. 😁
May ganyang lutuan ng kape yung lolo ko, pero di tinostang bigas yung gamit nya. 😊
!pizza
Oh, na try ko yang tinostang bigas as kape. Gumamit Lang ng strainer pinsan ko dati after pakuluan to separate.
