Hace ya varios días vengo viendo videos sobre este tema, que más que divertir, siento es un foco de alerta y preocupación social.
Primeramente, comencé viendo estos videos en redes sociales, sobre todo en tiktok que al parecer suele ser el trampolín de la noticia, ya que por cada día se suben alrededor 34 de millones de videos.
No obstante, este tema trascendió a la televisión nacional, siendo los noticiarios informativos quienes han dedicado segmentos para informar esta nueva “moda” adoptada por los jóvenes.
Por si no lo has visto aun, estoy hablando del “fenómeno Therian” (identidad animal interna), dónde los jóvenes se sienten un animal por completo. Debido a esto, han modificado en gran parte su comportamiento social, es decir, sus rostros se han ocultado bajo máscaras de diversas especies animales, inclusive, muchos han dejado de usar el lenguaje humano para comunicarse a base de: “ladridos, maullidos, etc”.
Por otro lado, también podemos ver, cómo han adaptado el caminar en cuatro patas, saltar como un perro y hasta interactuar con perros callejeros, donde notoriamente se ve la incomodidad del “animal real”.
Entre uno de los últimos videos virales, podemos apreciar, cómo un grupo de personas observa entre risas y desconcierto, como dos jóvenes “therian” tienen una disputa callejera asemejando una pelea de perros o gatos.
¿Pero cual es o será el real trasfondo de esta “moda”?
Cabe mencionar, que en cada década nace una nueva tendencia encasillada bajo el nombre de “Tribu Urbana” (movimientos culturales juveniles que giran alrededor de puntos en común en cuanto a aficiones, estilos de vida, y sobre todo, referentes estéticos), pero esta nueva tribu escapa de los estándares convencionales. Atrás quedaron en el recuerdo aquellas “tribus urbanas”: Hippies, Rockers, Punks, Rastafaris, Góticos, Mods, Hipsters, Skinheads, Raperos, Pokemon, Emos, Modelais, Pelolais, Poplolita, Hardcore, Otakus, Gamer, etc.
Dentro de estas tribus urbanas antes mencionada, puedo decir, que siempre me he identificado en la de otaku, más que nada por mi gusto a los mangas y animes de estilo asiático: Japón China, Corea, aunque también en mi época de adolescencia, me encantaba el estilo de vestimenta que usaban los Góticos.
Sin embargo, cada una de las anteriormente mencionadas se regía más que nada en un estilo visual y musical, conservando su humanidad y modo de hablar.
Más que nada, era ver a diversos grupos de jóvenes compartiendo su estilo musical y visual, con peinados diferenciados y modismos específico, no obstante, con cada uno de ellos podías intercambiar un diálogo ya que el lenguaje era el mismo, y podias quedar algo desconcertado con alguna palabra que no conocías.
Dialecto de algunas tribus
-Ponceo=Besarse con varias personas (modismo Pokemon).
-Groovy= Genial, fantástico, excelente (modismo Hippie).
-Baka= Tonto o torpe (modismo otaku) donde preferentemente se habla en idioma japonés.
Pero, en cuanto a los “therian” pienso que la “moda” cruzó a un umbral distinto donde la “alteración de la personalidad humana” se extingue notoriamente o se “desvanece” ante la preocupada mirada de su círculo familiar.
¿Una moda que incomoda o un escape a la realidad?
Hoy en día estamos presenciando cómo la juventud es gravemente manipulada por las redes, por personas externas que inventan modas absurdas haciendo que los más débiles de mente caigan sin previo aviso. Y en un sistema donde el trabajo quita horas de contención familiar y emocional, logra que esta puerta se abra de par en par ante jóvenes que sienten una importante "falta de presencia".
Es decir, jóvenes que buscan "pertenecer" a un círculo de manera desesperada y silenciosa, sea el que sea, para sentir que ya no está solo/a y tener esa “validación” para sentirse “importantes”.
Por otro lado, el rol paterno y materno juega una parte fundamental, hay casos donde el núcleo familiar busca comprender el porqué de este "nuevo estilo de vida" para ayudar y acompañar en el proceso de “entender lo que sienten”. Pero también tenemos la otra arista, aquel núcleo que recrimina y juzga el nuevo estilo de vida, tachándolo de un “simple juego”, provocando que él o la adolescente sienta que aquel grupo es su real familia.
Entonces, ¿estamos ante una nueva moda visual y nada más o estamos abriendo la puerta a la desconexión humana de manera voluntaria?
¿El fenómeno "Therian" es solo eso o es un fenómeno psicológico que no se quiere aceptar?
Detrás de cada máscara, ladrido, maullido, andar extraño y saltos altos, hay jóvenes que pierden su real identidad, quizás sintiéndose solos o importantes por estar en medio de la noticia, por que hay que ser conscientes y sinceros, muchos de ellos buscan pertenecer y otros tantos solo buscan ser el foco de atención por querer ser "famosos" y recibir la luz y notoriedad por ego.

Because of this, they have largely changed their social behaviour, i.e. their faces are hidden under masks of various animal species, and many have even stopped using human language to communicate, resorting instead to "barking, meowing, etc".
On the other hand, we can also see how they have adapted to walking on all fours, jumping like a dog, and even interacting with stray dogs, where the discomfort of the "real animal" is clearly visible.
In one of the latest viral videos, we can see how a group of people watch with laughter and bewilderment as two young "therians" have a street dispute resembling a dog or cat fight.
But what is or will be the real background to this "trend"?
It is worth mentioning that every decade sees the emergence of a new trend labelled as an "urban tribe" (youth cultural movements that revolve around common interests, lifestyles and, above all, aesthetic references), but this new tribe breaks away from conventional standards. Gone are the days of those "urban tribes": Hippies, Rockers, Punks, Rastafarians, Goths, Mods, Hipsters, Skinheads, Rappers, Pokemon, Emos, Modelais, Pelolais, Poplolita, Hardcore, Otakus, Gamers, etc.
Among these aforementioned urban tribes, I can say that I have always identified with the otaku, mainly because of my taste for Asian-style manga and anime: Japan, China, Korea, although in my teenage years, I also loved the style of clothing worn by Goths.
However, each of the aforementioned tribes was governed more by a visual and musical style, preserving their humanity and way of speaking.
More than anything, it was seeing different groups of young people sharing their musical and visual style, with different hairstyles and specific idioms. However, you could exchange dialogue with each of them because the language was the same, and you could be somewhat confused by a word you didn't know.

An uncomfortable trend or an escape from reality?
Today, we are witnessing how young people are being seriously manipulated by social media, by outsiders who invent absurd trends, causing the weakest minds to fall without warning. And in a system where work takes away hours of family and emotional support, this opens the door wide to young people who feel a significant "lack of presence".
In other words, young people who desperately and silently seek to "belong" to a circle, whatever it may be, in order to feel that they are no longer alone and to have that "validation" to feel "important".
On the other hand, the paternal and maternal roles play a fundamental part. There are cases where the family unit seeks to understand the reason for this "new lifestyle" in order to help and accompany them in the process of "understanding what they feel". But we also have the other side, the family that reproaches and judges the new lifestyle, dismissing it as a "simple game", causing the teenager to feel that that group is their real family.
So, are we facing a new visual trend and nothing more, or are we voluntarily opening the door to human disconnection?
Is the "Therian" phenomenon just that, or is it a psychological phenomenon that we do not want to accept?
Behind every mask, bark, meow, strange gait and high jump, there are young people who are losing their real identity, perhaps feeling lonely or important because they are in the news. Because we have to be aware and honest, many of them are looking to belong, while others are just looking to be the centre of attention because they want to be 'famous' and receive the limelight and notoriety for their ego.

Por casualidad me topé con uno de esos videos y cuando entendí de lo que se trataba lo único que vino a mi mente fue "locura total". Como dije, pueden ser diversos factores del porqué actúan así, quizás moda y ansias de llamar la atención o quizás un sentido de pertenecía qué no siente en su círculo cercano y de "proyección".
