William Spencer!

He adjusted his tie as his secretary came up to him.

“Sir, you're up in 10 minutes” he nodded his appreciation and looked through his typed speech again.

William was the host of The William Spencer money Talk show. He was the definition of ‘Grass to Grace’ because as of 6 years ago if anyone had told him he would be lodged in a 5-star hotel and paid to come and speak at the GROW RICH 8 conference, he would have laughed hard and called the person a joker.

William grew up hearing the words “You're smart”. If smart could take ALL of one's sorrows away, William would be the happiest man on Earth. He was homeschooled by his grand-aunt till he was 12. When he finally got into middle school, he had As in almost all of his subjects, by high school, he was teaching his teachers, especially math.

Despite all of these achievements, William was more poor than a church rat. He lived almost 10 miles away from the cheap school he attended, sometimes he had to wake up by 5 am so he could Hitch a ride with Old Pedro who sold milk in town, at other times, he walked and on most days, he wasn't present in school at all.

It was difficult for him to get into college. He took two separate loans and had to run back to his grand aunt's house every weekend to sell proceeds from her farm for his upkeep.

It was when he finally graduated from college with a perfect GPA that things began to look up for him. He worked with a petrochemical organization for 2 years as their finance manager and soon moved up the radar to human Resource leader.

When another 2 years had passed, he secured a job with a private firm that offered 2 times what his previous job was offering to be Head of Admin.

Now, 3 years after spending his time managing staff, budget, and resources, he decided to take his life into his own hands and started the William Spencer Money Talk Show.

By this time, he had 2 houses in the States and was driving The Bugatti Chiron.

Somehow, in his 8 years as a civil servant, William had discovered what he felt was The Secret of money, and this was what he talked about almost at the end of his talk show.

That was what he was going to talk about tonight too.

“It's time sir” Joan, his secretary said and he rose to take his place at the podium.

“Good evening Indonesia!”

There was a resounding applause, along with echoes of “Good evening William!”

“It's a great honor to be here. The theme for this program is GROW RICH and this is the 8th edition so far. I can tell you that what I'm going to say tonight has been said over the years and will continue to be said,” he paused when he saw that he held their entire attention. “But the difference this year would be that you would be identifying why you are not rich and making a commitment to yourself to become rich at the end of this year”

He heard murmuring and shuffling of feet. Everyone got super excited when they heard there was a possibility of becoming rich within a year.

“So the first thing I would be doing today is telling you 5 constant practices of rich people.

1. They avoid debts

2. They look for ways to save

3. They always want more money

4. They know time is money

5. They gain knowledge and apply it.”

When he raised his head, he could see that they were scribbling furiously away at their jotters.

“Alright then, now look at those 5 things and tick in front of the points you've done successfully for the past year”

Their heads became even more bent, their brows, more furrowed. When they began to raise their heads, he continued.

“Now, I want you to double-tick on one of those points that you will intentionally start doing. note, tick on points where you're most likely to be weak”

Their hands began scribbling again.

“You’re not going to become Bill Gates after consistently following through with that point you just double-ticked, but you will definitely be richer than you have been over the past years of your life. Imagine if you can go through diligently with the 5 points I mentioned. That is the secret spice of most successful men. You too can be a successful man.….”

He relaxed his face into a contented grin as another round of applause trailed him back to his seat. If they listened to him and did accordingly, they would definitely be on the podium just like him, in a subsequent GROW RICH conference.
