Es una tradición elaborar exquisitos dulces durante la Semana Santa para compartir en casa con la familia y amigos.

Los dulces pueden ser de lechosa, batata, coco, además de arroz con leche, majarete, manjar y jalea de mango. El dulce de lechosa también suele combinarse con piña.

En mi caso, solo voy a preparar dulces de lechosa y jalea.

Estos requieren tiempo, paciencia y abundante azúcar, ¡jajaja!

Siempre comienzo quitando la cáscara tanto del mango como de la lechosa.

Coloco el mango en una olla con agua hasta que esté blando y, una vez listo y a temperatura ambiente, retiro la pulpa de la semilla para cocinarla con el azúcar.

La lechosa la corto en tiras no muy delgadas; si las deseas duras, ponlas a remojar en soda durante varias horas. Yo no tenía soda, así que las puse directamente al fuego y, al ablandar, les agregué azúcar. Además, añadí malagueta.

Quedaron deliciosos y disfrutamos felices, incluso mis tíos que llegaron de visita desde Valencia.

I cut the milky leaves into not too thin strips; if you want them hard, soak them in soda for several hours. I didn't have soda, so I put them directly on the fire and, when they softened, I added sugar. I also added malagueta.

They were delicious and we enjoyed them happily, even my aunt and uncle who came to visit from Valencia.
