Halfway to Harvest Time

IMG_6966.jpeg

The process is something we shouldn't underestimate. Life is NOT just about phases, it's about many things, is the meaning of the process. Phases are part of the process, just like humans are born into this world without know anything and then eventually reach adulthood. If you're lucky, you may even pass through the final phase, which is aging.

The same thing happens with the life cycle of plant and vegetables. They are certainly different from ornamental plants. Although they are both plants, vegetables have a relatively short phase. A seed becomes a seed, the seed breaks open and becomes two leaves, then the young leaves are ready to be harvested. However, for ornamental plants, harvesting doesn't occur unless they produce fruit.

Last Week

Basically, the concept is the same. So, do you remember how these vegetables were last week? They're certainly doing very well and are now halfway to harvest time, which will be here soon.

Unfortunately, this month I won't be concentrating on the next batch because there's some construction going on near the terrace. We'll be building a place to cultivate the soil. Finally, we'll clean up some hydroponic plants and permanently reduce their size, but we have something bigger to build, and it's for the common good.

NOW

Last week, you see how the water spinach and lettuce were similar in size and of the same age. But, look at the third week, the sizes are no longer the same. The water spinach is get taller, but the lettuce is only slightly different from before. That's why we should not underestimate water spinach in the second and third weeks, because that when growth accelerates significantly.

Unfortunately, this harvest is all for personal consumption at home. There's only a few, and that will be more than enough. But i will give the rest of the water spinach to my neighbors because if left in the hydroponic pot, the taller it grows, the tough the stems become, which is not pleasant to eat.

That's what our garden looked like in October. I have something else coming up next week: a plant that's said to have a sweet taste. What kind of plant is it?
