Finally Found You, Myanmar Pancakes
What a beautiful day... when I discovered something that really intrigued me during my two day stay in Bagan, early last year, during a short trip. Before I finally missed Old Bagan now. It felt like opening a photo file, i missed everything about Old Bagan, even the food.

Interestingly, I often passed by a small vendor under a tree with an umbrella that even if it rained, it would soak her. There was a woman stand in there cooking in a small pan that like an egg fryer. I thought she was sell fried eggs, but it turn out to be a pancake unique to Myanmar. A traditional pancake with a special taste when you bite on your mouth.
The woman was selling pancakes with her face covered in authentic Myanmar skincare products. The meaning of that facial mask didn't escape my attention. Despite millions of high-tech skincare products, they used natural ingredients.
I bought about three of the pancakes, which were packaged in plastic. After she cooked them on the pan and over the wood fire, one word came to mind: simple.
It's that simple, with just a little ingredients like eggs, flour, and a hint of chai or more spices. The ingredients that can't be describe with spices, but they complement the sweet flavor. There's a hint of savory flavor, but it disappears when you bite it all at once. The pancake is top with a mixture of peanuts and dried grated coconut. It's sweet and so delicious, but with a slight fatty aftertaste from the vegetable oil.
The combination of sugar, salt and a hint of spice may seem strange, but why it so delicious at the time? The price? Of course much cheaper than any pancake I've ever buy in the world. Around $0.50 for three pieces of this traditional pancake.
One of my favorite things is eating food in Myanmar, their culture is so rich , like a fusion of Chinese and Indian cultures in one. Because if we draw a line between these two great countries, Myanmar is indeed located between these two great countries.
Call me Isdarmady, sometimes Mady, Putra or anything you want. I have a pretty long name but call me very nicely. There are many things I like, especially hydroponics and coffee, sometimes I also like traveling and eating whatever I want. Life should be like that, there must be many things you like so you can live well. Of course, what you want is a dream, so, when you have a dream then what you have to do is to achieve that dream, don't just let it be a dream.

I love how simple and authentic these pancakes look, and I can almost imagine the warm taste and charm of buying them fresh from the vendor.
