[Investment] Topcomment. A week after the discovery

avatar

A week ago, I made a post discussing the dilemma I had at that moment. We had a nice discussion in the comments that helped to make a decision.

I had only around 1,300 HP free on my balance, all other HP is already delegated to different communities. So, yes, my actual voting power isn't so high.

One of the comments was from @topcomment. It is a curation service with an interesting idea. They support comments instead of posts, as many other communities or services do.

About Topcomment

I went to the most they shared with me. The title is kinda catchy.
https://ecency.com/hive-153850/@topcomment/5-reasons-to-consider-delegating-to-the-topcomment-curation-service

The service offers 80% of curation rewards, and I find it a pretty attractive number.

I started doing my research on the service. As I learned, the service's main idea is to support quality comments. And I think it is a good way to encourage people to comment on others' posts.

The service is pretty transparent. They publish weekly reports. And if you are not sure yet what kind of comments you should write to get a chance to be upvoted, those weekly reports might be useful to you.

So, I delegated to the service 1,000 HP, and here I will leave a short feedback on it.

Topcomment. A week after the discovery

It had only been a week since I delegated 1,000 HP to @topcomment.
And so far in a week I earned.... 0 HIVE :) Because you start receiving payouts in a week after you delegated HP to the @topcomment.

A day ago was my first payout, and I will get around 0.200 HIVE payouts every day.

Why I decided to delegate

There are several reasons why I prefer delegation. And I will share the most important reasons with you.
First, I believe that delegating is a sort of support to others.
Also, you don't need to stay online or be active to get a payback. You receive your benefits for delegating automatically.
In addition, as I mentioned before, my personal actual voting power is not so high, so it doesn't have a big value to me. Even if I vote for my posts.
One more reason, I decided to check another community, and how delegation to it will work. Maybe I will do some research and analyse all my delegations later.

Thank You
Iris

Thanks for sharing your experiences with Topcomment!

The service is pretty transparent. They publish weekly reports.

That's what we try to be. Reports can be found with the #topcommentreport hashtag

First, I believe that delegating is a sort of support to others.
This is the main reason indeed. If you don't have the stake to upvote comments that result in a payout, we come into play. Did you already know you could mention us when you spot a comment?

You don't need to stay online or be active to get a payback. You receive your benefits for delegating automatically.

This is one of the nice features. We curate daily with the stake of our delegators. Even when you sleep, you're on holiday or just not that active on Hive, you will get 80% curation rewards in Hive.
Unless you are very active on Hive, you'll get more out of your stake by delegating 😊

Thanks for your support 💖

I don't see the reason to support a service like topcomment with delegation to get rewards, I see it as a way to reward people who actively engage, read, and actually think for themselves in a comment section with others, and have good, in depth conversations.

I did some analytics a few weeks ago on comments on HIVE, and well, we can be a lot better at actually reading each other's posts and contributing to an actual discussion - the way Internet forums used to work before reddit, tiktok, and all the other social media networks that the kids are on these days. :P

Reading and commenting other authors posts is another way of support and engagement. You can keep doing it regardless to delegating HP.
I find delegating as a good way to support others while you are busy. Also, as I said before it is a way of investment too :)

But thank for your comment. On one side I agree and support your point of you. I wish we have more real engagement in the Hive, so we can have a better and warm ecosystem here :)

All that it takes to do real engagement on HIVE is to go find stuff you like, comment on it, and hopefully get the author interested enough in what you wrote that feel obliged to reply.

We're all time poor. Devoting the time to engaging on hive definitely means that you're forever closing the door to doing something else in your life, but it is a two way street. Do the other things, and you can't devote that time to developing and building relationships here on HIVE :)

Balance. I think on this case you always can find the balance. Being active in hive doesn't mean you have to forget about everything else. But whatever you do requires an effort. Yes, we can't make people read or comment or upvote your post, but I believe there are always will be at least one person who won't just scroll your post down but open it and look through it.

But tbh now I am curious how many people do really read other authors posts?! :) and how many people treat hive as a social media and not only the way of making money :)

I think it depends on where they are in the world. Here, I think it would be foolish to view HIVE as a way of making money as the cost of living is so high. In other countries, it could be viable with a low cost of living.

Hive is just a tool at the end of the day, it is up to the person as to how they use it.

Absolutely agree with you.
I know that in some countries an average monthly salary is around 20$. So, yes, people can survive for a whole month of they write a good post and get enough quality upvotes.
On another side, there are so many different apps related or connected to hive. For example, games like splinterlands. Somehow they are part of the Hive too. And actually some people make around 1,000-2,000$ per month. And personally, I know people who make even more. So, it always depends on.... anyway, I think Hive is a great opportunity, but what kind of opportunity it is, everyone decide by him/herself :)

It all depends on the value that individual brings :)

Thank you very much for supporting the Top Comment service. Luckily we see better quality comments every time, I'm glad to know that people are making an effort in this aspect as well, not only in its own posts.

Have a nice day 💕!

Thank you for encouraging people to read and comment others. Engagement is a core value of any community and the society in general :)
