[Finish the Tale contest] Investigation Started
A few days ago I started writing a story as a part of the writing contest. The part I wrote wasn’t finished because it was pretty long and I decided to stop on one point. And I decided to continue it. I have never wrote such stories before. It is my first time. But I really want to finish it. I have an inspiration. And I am curious where my fantasy will bring me to.
Here is a moment the previous part was finished at.
For a moment, I was scared, but my thoughts of my husband gave me strength and courage.
I had been watching the man for a long time and replaying the last message on my phone in my head. The phone felt like it was burning my hand. It seemed as if time had stopped. And suddenly, the man said, "He wrote to you." Then he turned around and quickly walked to his car. I looked at the phone again, re-read the message.
Wait another 7 days.
I closed the door, went to the kitchen, brewed myself a stronger coffee, and reread all the messages once more. Then I watched all the surveillance recordings from that fateful day for the millionth time. I thought, what if my husband decided to disappear himself? What if he planned all this? But if that's the case, then why did he do it? And where has he been all this time? Suddenly, it hit me. How did he know that the man arrived?
My husband is watching me. I took out my phone and wrote, "You have 24 hours to explain everything." Then I went to my husband's room in search of clues. First, I checked all the folders and documents on his computer. Then I looked through all the shelves and cabinets. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. In despair, I slammed my fist on the table. The impact caused my husband's favorite figurine to fall off the table. It was a uniquely shaped statue, and according to the shop assistant, it symbolized love and harmony. My husband bought it, saying that this figurine would hold a central place on his desk, just like I do in his heart. At that moment, I even started to cry. My serious husband had never been so romantic. And now I realized that this figurine was teetering on the edge and could fall from any accidental movement. I knelt down to pick it up. The figurine was intact, but nearby, there was a small memory card.
I inserted the memory card into the computer. It contained only one folder titled “The time has come.” And as soon as I opened the folder, I received a message on my phone: “I never doubted you! Love you. Hungry tiger.”
To be continued…
