Escribir a mano es como tejer

La escritura a mano es una de las primeras cosas que se aprende en al escuela, por supuesto a algunos se les hace más difícil que a otros, porque es algo que no solo depende de la motricidad fina sino también de muchos otros aspectos, poder conectar lo que pensamos y transmitirlo de forma escrita es mucho mas allá que la simple transcripción, por eso hay una gran diferencia entre moldear la letra, tomar un dictado y por supuesto escribir por placer nuestros pensamientos, en este aspecto desde temprana edad me gustó escribir a mano mis poemas, sin embargo, en los últimos años me acostumbre a escribirlos directamente de manera digital, por otro lado en mis dos carreras universitarias siempre acostumbraba a tomar mis notas a mano y creo que fue lo mejor, si me hubiese tocado estudiar en estos tiempos donde es más fácil tomarle una fotografía a la pizarra creo que simplemente tendría la galería colapsada y nada de eso se habría quedado por completo en mi cabeza.

Handwriting is one of the first things you learn in school. Of course, some find it more difficult than others because it depends not only on fine motor skills but also on many other aspects. Being able to connect what we think and transmit it in writing is much more than simple transcription. That's why there's a big difference between shaping our handwriting, taking dictation, and, of course, writing our thoughts for pleasure. In this respect, I enjoyed writing my poems by hand from a young age. However, in recent years, I've gotten used to writing them directly digitally. On the other hand, in both of my university degrees, I always took my notes by hand, and I think it was the best thing. If I had had to study in these times when it's easier to take a picture of the blackboard, I think my photo gallery would simply be overflowing, and none of it would have fully stuck in my mind.

Debo decir con toda honestidad que actualmente no escribo a mano tan seguido como antes, sin embargo, me pasa a manudo que cuando mi hijo desea que le explique algo de sus tareas le pido una hoja aparte para ir ayudándome con la explicación de forma escrita, este es un proceso al que acostumbré en mis estudios pasados, hacer esquemas escritos de los contenidos me facilitaba las cosas, por ejemplo para elaborar un proyecto para mi era necesario en primer lugar tener hojas de reciclaje a la mano para plasmar allí mis primeros borradores de objetivos, títulos, establecer las variables de las investigaciones, también esquematizar la metodología a seguir, luego si me ponía a escribir en la computadora.

I must honestly say that I don't write by hand as often as I used to. However, it often happens that when my son wants me to explain something about his homework, I ask him for a separate sheet of paper so I can help him with the written explanation. This is a process I got used to in my past studies; making written outlines of the content made things easier for me. For example, to develop a project, I first needed to have recycled paper on hand to write down my first drafts of objectives, titles, establish the variables of the research, and outline the methodology to follow. Then I would start writing on the computer.

En mis 7 años en Hive he hecho en la gran mayoría de los casos mis publicaciones escritas en la computadora o teléfono de forma directa sin hacer borradores a mano, sin embargo, cuando se trata de mis trabajos de tejidos siempre escribo mis patrones y anotaciones mano y luego de una revisión proceso a escribirlos en la computadora, para mi es esencial la escritura a mano en esos casos, muchas veces esos borradores podrían parecer indescifrables para otra persona, pero para mi es la guía para verificar mis tejidos, aprender de mis propios errores, modificar formas, replicar métodos en otros proyectos y por supuesto son la base esencial de mi contenido.

In my 7 years on Hive, I've mostly written my posts directly on my computer or phone without making handwritten drafts. However, when it comes to my knitting projects, I always write my patterns and notes by hand, and then, after reviewing them, I type them up on the computer. For me, handwriting is essential in those cases. Many times, those drafts might seem indecipherable to someone else, but for me, they're the guide for checking my knitting, learning from my own mistakes, modifying shapes, replicating methods in other projects, and, of course, they're the essential basis of my content.

No obstante, aunque quita tiempo cuando se está tejiendo el tener que hacer pausa para escribir los detalles de la hilera que acabo de hacer, muchas veces hago partes completas de los amigurumis y posteriormente me dedico solo a la escritura del patrón a mano, para poder seguir avanzando con las demás partes, pues si se superpone una pieza a otra no podría verificar las puntadas después, es decir, que debo escribirlos de una vez y no hay manera mas eficiente que hacerlo a mano en le sitio, por eso aunque ya no escribo tan bonito como antes la escritura a mano se mantiene como algo imprescindible cuando estoy tejiendo.

However, although it takes time to pause while knitting to write down the details of the row I just made, I often make complete sections of the amigurumi and then dedicate myself solely to writing the pattern by hand, so I can continue with the other sections. If one piece overlaps another, I wouldn't be able to check the stitches later; that is, I have to write them down all at once, and there's no more efficient way than doing it by hand on the spot. That's why, even though my handwriting isn't as neat as it used to be, handwriting remains essential when I'm knitting.

El proceso de tejer no solo es manual, combina las coordinación del cuerpo ciertamente pero también implica una puesta en práctica de conocimientos matemáticos y al mismo tiempo conlleva el uso de lenguaje técnico, así como una correcta descripción de los procesos, por lo tanto e al escribir el patrón se está convirtiendo en lenguaje escrito un procedimiento teórico y práctico, muchas veces necesario para aclarar la mente y saber que es exactamente lo que se esta haciendo y no tejer solo por inercia, por eso para mi el lenguaje escrito es una gran arte de mi vida al igual que el tejido, por otro lado mi estilo de escritura convencional es la cursiva pero a veces pasa un poco desapercibido cuando escribo las abreviaturas en los patrones de tejido 😉

The knitting process is not only manual; it certainly combines body coordination, but it also involves the application of mathematical knowledge and the use of technical language, as well as a correct description of the processes. Therefore, when writing the pattern, a theoretical and practical procedure is being transformed into written language, often necessary to clarify the mind and know exactly what is being done, rather than knitting simply out of habit. That's why, for me, written language is a great art in my life, just like knitting. On the other hand, my conventional writing style is cursive, but it sometimes goes a little unnoticed when I write the abbreviations in knitting patterns 😉
