Cat lover since I was a child

Since I was little, I've had cats as pets, even though no one else in my family liked them back then. My love for cats was so great that my parents were willing to accept my pet just for the sake of my happiness. Now that I'm an adult, I still prefer to have a cat as a pet, even though I've also had dogs throughout my life. I don't have a dog right now, but when I had them, I always got them used to living with cats and not harming them. Even though I love dogs, I'm definitely a cat person.

Certainly, when I was little and first got a cat as a pet, it was driven by appearance. I liked the overall look of these animals; I thought they were beautiful and cuddly. But over time, I not only learned about cat behavior, but I also learned about myself and realized that my personality simply meshes better with these types of animals. That's where the reasons why I prefer cats come from.

First of all, cats have a certain indifference in their character. Even though they can respond by name, they will always ignore you when they want to. Cats' love is special because it is not tied to a feeling of dependency. Even when cats feel safe and fed, they could easily run away from you, but they are willing to stay only if they feel truly comfortable with their owners. They have no obligation when people are around. This kind of attitude makes me feel good because when a cat approaches me and shows me affection, I feel that this is genuine affection. Besides, I am also a person who does little physical contact, so I respect that cats only let themselves be petted when they want to, so I hope they give me their consent.

I value silence immensely, and that's why I don't think there's anything more elegant than a cat walking. They don't make any noise; they only meow when necessary. One thing I really like about the cats I've had is that when I'm alone, they simply come and stand by my side, whenever I'm working or resting. Without asking me anything, the cats come of their own accord and remain silent. It's as if they know that being near them is so important to me on an emotional level.

I also really like that cats are very selective about people. It's really as if they sense what kind of person doesn't have good intentions and they don't let themselves be fooled easily. I like that they don't let just anyone mess with them. Cats can be as fierce as they are stealthy. They can scratch you mercilessly if you bother them, and I think that's great because they're apparently very docile, but that doesn't mean they can't defend themselves. They're so cool that I hope to continue having cats for the rest of my life, although right now I'm only accompanied by my beautiful kitty named Linda.
