I woke up to find a note on my pillow "You have 24 hours.” My jaw was hurting and so was my head. My lip was cut and it was bleeding. I ran my tongue inside the mouth. The good news was all teeth were intact. The bad news was I could taste my blood. I got up still wobbly and went down to the kitchen sink. Splashed water on my face. Ideally, one should call the Police in such a situation. But this one is different. “NO POLICE” was the instruction.
I reached my pocket for the mobile, only to find it broken and dead. It probably broke when I was busy being the punching bag for the assailants. I went to the drawer looking for my work phone. It was missing. They took my work phone. This wasn't a typical robbery they were after something. What? I don’t know. I better get help because this is not something I can solve on my own. I got up and grabbed my key. Before I could reach the door I felt a little dizzy and the taste in my mouth changed. My mouth had a metallic taste. I managed to get back to the sink. I gargled again and again hoping to gain some control of my now numbing limbs. I grabbed the counter for guidance, I needed to get to the sofa. “Almost there”, I thought to myself. I was just a couple of feet away when my vision blurred, my body weight shifted forward. My head slammed against the cold hard white Tiles floor. I was out cold again.

“Hey wake up!!” Nakul slapped my face again. “What happened here.. Wake up!!” inuke splashed water on my face and asked. He was panicking. That would be a normal reaction if you ever find your flatmate out cold in your hall in beat-up condition.
I woke up in a puddle of water. My head hurts even worse than before. With a completely drenched note that says “You have 24 Hrs. NO POLICE”. I gave the note to Nakul.
“Who did this?”. He was confused
“Dont know, They were wearing monkey caps.”. I sat on the floor with my legs crossed now.
“They? How many?” Nakul asked.
“2 Guys, A Big dude and the second one was avg built,” I replied.
“What they asked?”
“Nothing, They jumped me and trashed me without saying a word. Aaahhhggg!!!” My pain made it to the answer. This time it was back on my neck.
“What do they want, and this what does this mean?” Nakul threw the note back to me.
I replied with my helpless eyes. How could I possibly answer a question to which I didn't know the answer?

This is my entry to the Weekly contest by the ecency support.
Now this is going to be a short fictional story that I am planning, let's see how that goes. I am happy to announce that I am on Day 24 of daily writing. It is a big thing for me. That means, in just 24 Days I have done more blogging and Hive activity than in 2024. So I can proudly say that I am a better version of my 2024. That being said, I still have a long way to go, Also there is this health thing, while I am feeling much better. I am yet to recover fully. Let's hope that I clear that too slowly.
