What is success?

Everyone wants to be successful in life, and having the desire to achieve success is very natural. Success never comes to us itself, and that's why we need to make efforts for it. Even after working hard, there is no guarantee that we will achieve success in life. But have you ever thought about what the true meaning of success is, because the definition of success changes with time?

People in society think that achieving independence at the age of 20 is a success. Again, they think that at the age of 30, having a good career is success. Similarly, finding balance in life at the age of 40 is so-called success. From the thoughts of people, it is quite understandable that the definition of success changes over time, but I don't think it can truly define what success is.

I never think that success is a milestone for anyone. It's a journey where we make mistakes and become failures many times. It allows us to correct ourselves, and that makes the path to success easier for us. I don't think success has anything to do with age. For each person, considering the situation, the definition of success can be different.

I think there is nothing wrong if I become independent at the age of 25 and I get a good career at the age of 35. In my opinion, what success means to me has nothing to do with what people think about it because it's my life, and as long as I'm satisfied with my current life, it can be considered a success. But I'm not saying that being satisfied by depending on others cannot be considered as success because success is something that needs to be achieved by oneself.

Let me share what success means to me. From the perspective of an academic career, most people think that I am one of the successful because I maintain my top position all the time, and I finished my graduation from one of the top universities in my country. But having good grades cannot be considered success in my opinion. I am not successful in academic cases because I didn't participate in extracurricular activities, and to maintain good grades, I invested most of my time in studies, and as a student, I didn't do many things that normal students do. When I look back on the past, I can't see anything except good results. I don't have so many significant moments to remember. I haven't done many things as a student, and I am sure I won't get the opportunity to cover it anytime because the time is gone. I have many regrets, and I missed very beautiful moments. So, as a student, I never consider myself a successful one.

The same goes for the career. If I have a stable financial income that can allow me to live a comfortable life, it doesn't mean I am successful. Maybe at that time, I may face trouble dealing with stress and living an unhappy life. In that case, is it worth it to say I'm successful? I don't think so.

In a single line, I want to define success as long as I am capable enough to live my life comfortably with satisfaction and improving each day, and making myself into a better version.

Thanks for sharing with us, your words are indeed facts, success doesn't just have to do with wealth it has to do with the satisfaction and happiness that comes with it, it's sad that some of us are still doing everything to have good grades without involving in other extracurricular activities, I hope we learn to balance the activities that goes on in our life.

I doubt successful has a single definition because individuals see it from different perspectives.

Success is subjective. Everyone has what he considers to be success. For some it’s completing school with a first class while for others, it’s enjoying their school year as to the fullest.
