Place, culture and tradition define artworks

The word "art" is a mysterious one, at least for me, since my childhood. From time to time, I was able to learn a little bit more and more about it. When I was a child, I used to think that art was something that was related to painting. I thought painting was art. And whoever does the painting is an artist. Better when I saw the name of the artist in music, I thought music was also a part of art. My thoughts are okay, but I didn't know that art was wider than that. Later, I realize that art can be anything. In fact, talking can also be art, depending on how one speaks.

Art is a creation, and the artist is the creator, and that is the very simple explanation of art and artist in my opinion, and every creation has a purpose, and I believe that almost every creation is for a good purpose, but everything in this world comes in pairs, and naturally, having some negative side is also expected. I always say that creation can never be good or bad itself. It depends on us as well as how we use it. When it comes to Earth, it's also the same. Art itself is not good or bad. It's our perspective as well as our point of view on how we see art. There is nothing to blame an artist for any creation, but I believe that culture and traditions play a very important role, and many times we end up judging artists as well as art depending on our cultures and traditions. I don't think there is anyone to blame for it because everyone has their own mindset.

Let me explain with a little but real example from a few years ago. We are very familiar with painting art, and so I am taking such an example. In my country, for the Bengali New Year celebration, many places are being decorated well each year. Graffiti (painting) on roads is a very popular way to make them beautiful, and I also like it very much because it can give aesthetic vibes. From the perspective of beauty, it deserves appreciation. A few years ago, a team painted a long road in the Hawor area, raising funds by themselves. The Hawor area is one of the most popular tourist destinations in my country, and at the same time, it plays a very important role because on both sides of the road, water bodies also exist and significantly contribute to the economy. When the team completed the painting as well as the graffiti, people started to praise them and say they made the beautiful place more beautiful, which will attract more tourists.

Many people appreciated those artists, but I'm not one of them. The people who have a similar mindset to me and who understand the consequences of the action never thought it was a good artwork. I'm not saying that the artwork wasn't beautiful or that the artists were bad at their work. But the location they have chosen was not the right one, and the consequences were not good. The chemicals used for paintings and graffiti are not good for the fish and other aquatic animals, and such a thing can bring destruction to an ecosystem. I never thought it would be so difficult for any person to understand how harmful it can be for the aquatic ecosystem of the area when rain washes away the painting chemicals into the water bodies. In fact, it is such a thing that it created negative consequences in the production of that year. So from this perspective, it can be considered bad art or negative art. I would not mind if such a thing were done in the town area, where the consequences would not be so bad.

So in my eyes, art itself cannot be good or bad. Where the artwork is being displayed, the perspective of people decides if the artwork is good or bad. And it is highly related to the traditional and cultural values of a country, as it has an influence on the thoughts of people.
