A recurring expenses that can be avoided

avatar

It's the end of the 3rd day of New Year. In New Year time we make many promises to ourselves to create or make a better version of ourselves. We try to do it by having the expectations of peaceful and a happy life. And in the case of happiness finance plays a very important role. The decision of finance is very important for the future and that is the reason we need to make decisions wisely otherwise we may need to suffer for it in the future.

In our life, recurring expenses are a very common thing. Foods are the best examples of it. We need to spend money on a regular basis but it's necessary for everyone because without food we can't survive. So these kinds of recurring expenses can't be stopped or reduced. But, depending on humans and we all have various kinds of recurring expenses in our life that we can go without those expenses or we can reduce the expenses. It's just a matter of practice and we can do it if we are determined to make it possible. Changing is the nature of humans and we can also change with time.

In the case of finance and expenses, I always try to stay conscious because I care about my assets. I try to make the best use of my assets and having that kind of intention is good in my opinion and everyone has almost similar kind of intention.

One of the recurring expenses I usually do is recharge my mobile balance. Naturally, I hardly call others and most of the calls are done in online applications like WhatsApp, and Messenger. In rare cases, I call anyone directly and when I call directly, I don't talk to anyone for more than 2 minutes. So recharging my mobile balance is not necessary and I can go without it also but when I see a cashback offer for recharge I immediately rush for it because the cashback offer means which is a benefit for me but unfortunately the amount I am recharging is also one kind of loss for me because I am not using the recharge balance anytime. Day by day the balance of my SIM card is increasing and I am doing it again and again. Increasing my mobile balance also gives me a different kind of satisfaction. Although the habit of mine is technically beneficial for me, it's a loss in my opinion because I can do nothing with the recharged mobile balance means not so many use cases of the asset. So, I am trying to reduce the thing as much as I can and I will try my best to make it possible in this new year. I think it's very necessary for me and it can save a good amount of assets of mine.

To be honest, I am unable to remember any more recurring expenses done by me which I can go without doing the expenses. In fact, I was able to remember the mentioned one after thinking a lot.

We became smart with time and we thought about the cost-effectiveness. Because we need to pay a huge amount of VAT for each direct call. So online calling is the best opinions for us.

Hehe. It seems you are also like me and rarely call directly. I think calling from WhatsApp or Messenger is cost-effective and we don't need to pay extra for it. If I stop recharging then, I may save some money.

So let me understand something: you do not use cellular calls often, but you recharge ever so frequently. I found that hilarious. 😅

I actually do understand the feeling of satisfaction you get from doing that anyway. And, also, I think it's pretty good that you try to utilize the cashback features. I mean, it's not like you're throwing them away. You could use the airtime to call or even buy an internet plan.

Thank you for participating.

Yes, I hardly use the cellular calls but I recharge whenever I get a cashback offer.
I don't need to buy internet also because I use wifi and most of the time I stay under my wifi zone. moreover, I buy an internet bundle pack that remains valid for a long time.
Sorry for the late reply. I am actually facing a busy time with my studies.

Same with me too. I want to reduce the way I recharge as I do not call people like that and if I do, I will only talk for a min or two and that is it. I do most of my calls online and that is it. Let's be mindful this year and see changes in our financial life.

Sounds like you are addicted to recharging your phone when there's a cashback offer, lol! At least it gives you the satisfaction of some sort hehe.

Technically it's a benifit. But still now I don't have so many use cases of it. If somehow I could use those, then I will be able to take the benifit 🙂.

Hey! I don't know if this can help, but here are some tips I can offer to be mindful of all these expenses. These are tips that I also regularly apply:

  1. Budgeting: Create a detailed budget to track your spending. This helps in identifying non-essential expenses.
  2. Expense Tracking: Use apps or spreadsheets to monitor where your money is going each month.
  3. Cutting Unnecessary Subscriptions: Review and cancel subscriptions you don't use frequently.
  4. Cashback and Discounts: Look for deals, but be mindful to not spend unnecessarily just to get cashbacks.
  5. Automate Savings: Set up automatic transfers to a savings account to build your savings habit.
  6. Periodic Review: Regularly assess your expenses to see if there are new areas where you can cut back.

Hope these help in your journey to better financial management!

WhatsApp and another online platform have indeed led to a cutback on the purchase of airtime which is cool. So one recurring expense avoided👍🏽
