Hello everyone, continuing with the adventures I'm trying to find my way around, I've arrived here in the city of San Juan for "Expo-Simón," a lively gallery themed around Simón Bolívar's journey from childhood to adulthood, taking some aspects of it into account, and featuring actors and performers. This gallery would be open to the public for a week, as I understand they're touring various parts of the country. Ever since I found out it would be here in my city, I've been convincing my sister and some friends to go, since it reminded me of some outings I used to take as a child, and I really wanted to experience it for myself.

Hola a todos, siguiendo con las aventuras en las que trato de enrrumbarme, llego acá a la ciudad de San Juan a la "Expo-Simón", una galería animada y ambientada en el recorrido de Simón Bolívar de niño a adulto, tomando algunos aspectos y donde había actores e intérpretes. Esta estaría activa durante una semana para todo el público, puesto que tengo entendido que están recorriendo diversas zonas del país, y desde que me enteré de que estaría acá en mi ciudad, estuve convenciendo a mi hermana y algunos amigos para ir, puesto que me recordó a algunas salidas que hacía de niña y la verdad quería vivir un poco de la experiencia.

Well, after some conversations, we made plans to go, and when the day came, we were the same dynamic trio as always: my sister, our friend who accompanies us on our adventures, and me. The expo was scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and we decided to go in the afternoon, mainly because we'd be walking, and the journey was quite long and tiring. We started by meeting in the city's central plaza at 2 p.m. After getting organized and realizing that no one had any water, we took out our umbrellas to avoid the sun and started walking toward the expo site. Just to give you an idea, it took us about half an hour, and the sun was strong.

Y bueno, luego de algunas charlas, organizamos para ir y, llegado el día, éramos el trío dinámico de siempre: mi hermana, nuestro amigo que nos acompaña en las aventuras y yo. El horario de la expo era desde las 10 am hasta las 5 pm y nosotros decidimos ir en la tarde, más que todo porque iríamos caminando y el trayecto era bastante largo y agotador. Empezamos encontrándonos en la plaza central de la ciudad a las 2pm y, luego de organizarnos y darnos cuenta de que ninguno tenía agua, sacamos las sombrillas por el sol y comenzamos a caminar hacia el lugar de la expo. Para que entiendan, nos tardamos alrededor de media hora y el sol estaba fuerte.

My city's Olympic Village is a large space, located a bit far from the city. However, it's adapted for all kinds of sports, exercise, and recreation, and also boasts one of the largest coleos (college-style arenas) in the world. We were headed to the central dome, which is almost at the end, so it was a trip the three of us hadn't made in a long time. Nevertheless, the laughter was there, and we mitigated the harsh sun with a few jokes.

La villa olímpica de mi ciudad es un espacio grande y que se encuentra ubicado en un punto un poco distante de la ciudad; no obstante, está adaptado para toda clase de deportes, ejercitación y esparcimiento, contando también con una de las mangas de coleos más grandes que hay, y al espacio donde nos dirigíamos era al domo central, que está casi a lo último, por lo que fue un trayecto que los tres teníamos mucho tiempo que no hacíamos. Sin embargo, las risas estaban presentes y apaciguábamos lo fuerte del sol con algunas bromas.

When we finally arrived, there was a large group of guides waiting at the door, as the activity was carried out in groups every few minutes to make it seem smooth. Since there were only three of us, we waited a while for more people to arrive. One of my goals when going was to get one of the shirts they gave out as souvenirs for children or students; however, by the time we arrived, they were all gone, but they still gave us notebooks with the cover and the first thematic page, which personally got me more into the mood. And here'sthe funny story from the adventure.

Al llegar por fin al lugar, este tenía un grupo grande de guías que esperaban en la puerta, puesto que la dinámica era realizada por grupos cada ciertos ratos para que se viera viendo fluido, por lo que, al ser solo nosotros tres, estuvimos esperando un buen rato mientras llegaban más personas. Uno de mis objetivos al ir era una de las camisas que daban como recuerdo para niños o estudiantes; sin embargo, para cuando fuimos, no había ya, pero aun así nos regalaron unos cuadernos con la portada y la primera hoja temática, que personalmente me hizo entrar más en ambiente, y acá va la anécdota graciosa de la aventura.

Because of my short stature and boyish appearance, I had planned, just out of mischief and also to get the shirt, to bring a pair of high school uniforms or something similar; however, because of the time and all, I ended up wearing normal clothes. The thing is, since I entered with the boys, even though I'm the oldest in the group, the first thing the guides did when they handed out the notebooks was ask our friend's age. Then, as we got ready to begin the experience, they placed the boys in front, along with me, assuming I was about 14. So my sister and her friend were laughing and making jokes about it whenever they could.

Por mi estatura baja y apariencia de niño, tenía pensado, por pura travesura y también por conseguir la camisa, llevarme una ropa de liceo o algo similar; sin embargo, por la hora y eso, al final fui vestida normal. La cosa es que desde que entré con los chicos, aunque soy la mayor del grupo, lo primero que hicieron los guías cuando entregaron los cuadernos fue preguntar la edad de nuestro amigo y luego, al organizarnos para comenzar la experiencia, colocaron a los niños adelante y a mí también, pues asumieron que tenía unos 14 años, por lo que mi hermana y su amigo estaban riéndose y cada que podían hacían bromas sobre el tema.

The experience began with a large screen playing a video welcoming us to the tour, and out of nowhere, a young man playing Simón Bolívar appeared from behind us, signaling the start. We had to say a password to open the interaction. It's worth mentioning that he had a wireless microphone and was fully dressed, which demonstrated his commitment, regardless of whether the group was large or small. We began with dynamics where we had to march toward the first station where two young women were standing, one of them portraying the black girl Matea and at the same time telling about Simón Bolívar's childhood story.

Ahora bien, la experiencia comenzó con una pantalla grande donde se reproducía un video donde nos hacía la bienvenida al recorrido y, de la nada, de atrás de nosotros aparecía un muchacho interpretando a Simón Bolívar, dando el inicio, y donde teníamos que decir un santo y seña para abrir la interacción. Cabe mencionar que tenía micrófono inalámbrico y estaba totalmente caracterizado, lo cual demostraba el compromiso, no importa si fuera un grupo grande o pequeño. Comenzamos con dinámicas donde teníamos que entrar marchando hacia la primera estación donde se encontraban dos muchachas, caracterizando una de ellas a la negra Matea y así mismo contando sobre la historia de pequeño de Simón Bolívar.

Following this was the oath-taking scene on the Sacred Mountain, where another character also played the part. I should mention that it was as if we were in a game, as they remained still like NPCs until the group appeared and began to interact. At this station, we recited the oath and moved on to the next, where something more interactive and in-character awaited us, which was a bit like Francisco de Miranda's voyage on the Leander. In this one, they acted out a storm, even spraying us with water, and we laughed when one of these characters fell.

Seguido de esta estaba la escena del juramento en el monte sacro, donde igualmente otra persona caracterizaba. Debo mencionar que era como si nos sintiéramos en un juego, pues se estaban quietos como NPC hasta que aparecía el grupo y se disponían a interactuar. En esta estación dijimos el juramento y pasamos al siguiente, donde nos esperaba algo más interactivo y más caracterizado, lo cual era un poco de lo que fue el viaje de Francisco de Miranda en el Leander. En esta interpretaron una tormenta donde incluso nos rociaron agua y nos reímos con la caída de uno de estos personajes.

After this, we went on to see a replica of Bolívar's sword along with the robes of Bolívar, Francisco de Miranda, and Negro Primero. We then visited some interactive screens where we could greet and ask questions to various historical figures. We then moved on to another interactive moment, the scene of the attack in Bogotá on September 25, 1828. We saw a beautiful dance along with reenactments of the same moment as the attack. Out of nowhere, more actors appeared behind us, performing, which frightened my sister and a little girl, before finally breaking into a moment of laughter.

Luego de esto, pasamos a ver una réplica de la espada de Bolívar junto a las vestimentas de este mismo, Francisco de Miranda y Negro Primero. Conocimos luego unas pantallas interactivas donde podíamos saludar y hacer preguntas a diversos personajes de la historia, pasando así a otro momento interactivo que fue la escena del atentado en Bogotá el 25 de septiembre de 1828, donde vimos un lindísimo baile junto a interpretaciones del mismo momento del atentado, donde de la nada salieron detrás de nosotros más actores interpretando, cosa que asustó a mi hermana y a una niña, pasando luego a un momento de risas.

We often had a space where children could live color a figure, and after that, a space with beautiful paintings. In this area, there was another interactive moment, which my sister and my friend encouraged me to participate in because I was the "girl." This involved a game using virtual reality headsets while we played a kind of war reenactment. This time, it was the red team versus the blue team, and it was exciting for me, since it was the first time I'd experienced virtual reality. However, my team lost, since we were very new.

Tuvimos seguido un espacio donde los niños podían colorear en vivo una figura y, pasado eso, un espacio con cuadros muy hermosos y que en esta zona se daba otro momento interactivo y que mi hermana y mi amigo me empujaron a participar por ser la "niña". Esto se trataba de un juego usando gafas de realidad virtual mientras jugábamos una especie de representación de la guerra; en esta oportunidad éramos equipo rojo vs. equipo azul y para mí fue emocionante, puesto que fue la primera vez que experimentaba la realidad virtual; sin embargo, mi equipo perdió, puesto que éramos muy novatos.

The last two stations featured an area with inflatables and recreational games for children and others, and another where a documentary and trivia session would be shown. It was important to pay attention because at each station, they gave out information to use in the Q&A session. However, we couldn't participate in this one because there weren't enough of us, so the tour ended with popcorn at the end as we were escorted to the exit. For me, the experience was fun; I was even willing to go again another day, but the problem is that it's very far from where I live.

Las últimas dos estaciones eran un espacio con inflables y juegos recreativos para niños y demás, y otro donde se vería un documental y un momento trivia; la importancia de prestar atención era que en cada estación daban datos para luego usarlos en el preguntas y respuestas; sin embargo, no pudimos participar en esta porque no éramos los suficientes, por lo que el recorrido terminó con cotufas al final mientras nos acompañaban a la salida. Para mí, la experiencia fue divertida; incluso era capaz de repetir e ir otro día, pero el tema es que está muy lejos de donde vivo.

After this tour, I would see the long walk back, since just as we arrived, it would also be tedious to return to the center, so, once we rested in some chairs near the Olympic village, we prepared to start the walk and, after half an hour, we were already in the center of the city, so we went for something to drink, since we were quite dehydrated, and as a reward for our work of the day, we went to eat at one of our known places, where my sister ordered a hot dog, my friend a combo of pepiperros and I a hamburger, since I wanted to try it, and I must say that it was very good.

Luego de este recorrido, vería la gran caminata de regreso, puesto que así como llegamos, también sería tedioso el volver al centro, por lo que, una vez descansamos en unas sillas cercanas de la villa olímpica, nos dispusimos a iniciar la marcha y, luego de media hora, ya estábamos en pleno centro de la ciudad, por lo que fuimos por algo de tomar, ya que estábamos bastante deshidratados, y como premio por nuestra faena del día, nos fuimos a comer a uno de nuestros sitios conocidos, donde mi hermana se pidió un perrito caliente, mi amigo un combo de pepiperros y yo una hamburguesa, puesto que tenía ganas de probarla, y debo decir que estaba muy buena.

Likewise, we returned to the plaza to rest a bit on the grass, and after that, we went home. So, well, I must say that personally it was a pleasant experience, the fact that I felt like I did when I was little, experiencing something like that again. Joking aside, I felt like a little girl, but I was very excited at the stations. So, without further ado, that was our adventure, which I hope you enjoy, and thank you for reading.

Así mismo, volvimos a la plaza a reposar un poco echados en la grama y, posterior a eso, nos fuimos a nuestras casas. Así, bueno, debo decir que en lo personal fue una experiencia agradable, el hecho de que sentí como cuando era pequeña, viviendo de nuevo algo así, y fuera de la broma, que parecía niña, sí estaba muy emocionada en las estaciones, así que sin más, esta fue nuestra aventura, que espero sea de su agrado, y gracias por leer.
