La temporada había llegado; por mucho tiempo Max había esperado ansioso la llegada del nuevo coleccionable que tanto quería. Estaba atento a redes, hablando con otros aficionados y compartiendo noticias que leía sobre esta figura que tanto quería tener, y es que, a pesar de ser novato y empezar relativamente reciente en el mundo del coleccionismo, su emoción era muy grande, pues adoraba el estar poco a poco construyendo su estantería de figuras. Para esta temporada estaba más que pendiente de la colección que saldría, pues era la figura de "FAN TOM" que tanto habían promocionado para Halloween y tenía en sus accesorios a "FAN TOM AXE" y "FAN TOM GTI".

The season had arrived; for a long time, Max had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new collectible he so desperately wanted. He was paying attention to social media, talking with other fans, and sharing news he read about this figure he so desperately wanted. Despite being a novice and relatively new to the world of collecting, his excitement was immense, as he loved slowly building his collection of figures. This season, he was more than a little worried about the upcoming collection, as it was the "FAN TOM" figure that had been so heavily promoted for Halloween, and its accessories included "FAN TOM AXE" and "FAN TOM GTI."

Para Max, aunque entendía el furor, era algo a lo que aún no había podido acostumbrarse, a todo lo que implicaba conseguir cada figura cuando era de edición limitada de la que se trataba, ya que en muchas ocasiones había decidido simplemente esperar a que pasara la euforia y conseguirla simplemente por algún otro coleccionista; sin embargo, sabía que pagaría muchísimo más.

However, one anguish kept him from being able to fully rejoice, and that was that, although he had saved up for this figure, he had seen many people say they would be prepared to get it, and on previous occasions he had not been able to take home some figures from past editions due to the large accumulations of people who had been waiting outside stores for days beforehand. For Max, although he understood the frenzy, it was something he still hadn't been able to get used to, to everything that was involved in getting each figure when it was the limited edition, since on many occasions he had decided to simply wait for the euphoria to pass and simply get it from some other collector; however, he knew he would pay a lot more.

Por eso, desde días antes había estado concentrado buscando todas las tiendas cercanas a su casa en las que estaría esta figura y viendo los horarios de apertura para idear la estrategia perfecta para no perderla. Sam, un amigo cercano de Max, y aquel quien le había enseñado el mundo del coleccionismo, sabía bien la importancia de esta figura, por lo que se había organizado junto con Max en estar atentos y ayudarse mutuamente a conseguirla sin fallar, por lo que Sam estaría en algunas tiendas que quedaban lejos de la ciudad, mientras Max en las cercanas a su casa.

Even so, remembering moments where uncomfortable things had happened to him in other seasons, this time he was more determined than ever, because Max loved Halloween and having something specific for this celebration was a dream; he even had his shelf organized with a space dedicated to where that long-awaited "FAN TOM" would be. That's why, for days before, he had been focused on looking for all the stores near his house where this figure would be and checking the opening hours to devise the perfect strategy to not lose it. Sam, a close friend of Max, and the one who had taught him the world of collecting, knew well the importance of this figure, so he had organized with Max to be attentive and help each other get it without fail. So Sam would be in some stores that were far from the city, while Max would be in the ones closest to his house.

The day had arrived, and before the first rays of dawn had even appeared, the two friends were already waiting in their designated spots. Max was impressed by the number of people waiting attentively and crowded for the doors to open. Although he had arrived early, he was far from the venue. Still, his expectations were high, even though he saw how every minute there seemed to be more and more people, some of whom he recognized as famous collectors, so it would be a real battle when the sales began.

Conseguir esa figura de "FAN TOM", en un abrir y cerrar de ojos de Max, la estantería de figuras estaba a la mitad de mercancía mientras otros corrían por hacer su compra. El trato de ser rápido incluso llevó empujones y uno que otro golpe sin querer de otros coleccionistas eufóricos, pero Max, por más que se abalanzó, no pudo conseguirla. Se sentía derrotado, pero no del todo, pues aún quedaban algunas tiendas cerca, por lo que corrió directo a la más cercana y en esa aún quedaban figuras, por lo que se apresuró a la larga fila con esperanzas de esta vez conseguirla.

8:00 am sharp, an hour that would be etched in Max's memory, as there was a great silence as the store manager approached to open the shop and welcome customers, only to be greeted by an excited horde of people all with the same goal... To get that "FAN TOM" figure. In the blink of Max's eye, the figure shelf was half full of merchandise while others rushed to make their purchase. Trying to be quick even led to some shoving and the occasional accidental bump from other euphoric collectors, but Max, no matter how hard he tried, couldn't get his hands on it. He felt defeated, but not entirely, as there were still a few stores nearby, so he ran straight to the nearest one and that one still had figures left, so he hurried to the long line hoping to get it this time.

Faltaban dos puestos para llegar al mostrador y Max estaba emocionado, pues todo parecía indicar que las conseguiría. Max sintió empatía y recordó cuando compró su primera figura, por lo que, aunque sí quería tenerla, le dijo al vendedor que se la diera al pequeño, el cual, emocionado, le dio las gracias, e incluso Max no dudó en ayudarlo a sacar su dinero de aquella alcancía para que pudiera pagar y lo felicitó mientras se iba feliz con su primera figura.

There were two more stalls to go to the counter, and Max was excited, as everything seemed to indicate he would get them. However, a little boy standing nearby came running to get the figure; he was excited because it was his first figure he could buy, and he even had a small piggy bank in his hands. He approached and asked the worker if he could sell him the figure, but the worker pointed out that it was the last one and, in order, it would be Max's turn, which made the boy sad. Max felt empathy and remembered when he bought his first figure, so, although he did want to have it, he told the seller to give it to the little boy, who, excited, thanked him. Max even didn't hesitate to help him take his money out of that piggy bank so he could pay and congratulated him as he left happy with his first figure.

Media hora después ya estaban allí; mientras Sam estaba alegre por haber conseguido la figura, Max le contó lo sucedido y que se sentía con emociones encontradas.

Feeling a mixture of relief and defeat, Max left the store and sat down on a small bench nearby, deep in thought. His mind kept imagining the figurine that could have been his, but he also knew it was thes the right decision, as the little boy's smile had been his reward. Remembering his friend Sam, he sent him a message asking how it had gone, and Sam suggested they meet up somewhere, so they arranged to meet at Max's house. Half an hour later, they were there. While Sam was happy to have gotten the figurine, Max told him what had happened and that he was feeling mixed emotions.

And standing in front of him, he proceeded to take a "FAN TOM" figurine out of his backpack. This, well, something had told him in his mind that he should have two and, seeing the situation, without a doubt this one was for Max, so without thinking, he gave it to him, placing it in his hands. His reaction was a mixture of surprise and emotion; small tears began to form in his eyes as he saw in his hands that figurine that he had wanted so much. Almost instinctively, he gave his friend a big hug and, thanking him, told him that he would not forget that action.

A little while later, both friends appreciated every detail of the figure. The box was beautiful, with a unique and perfect iridescence; the "FAN TOM" was totally detailed, from the cape, the mask, and those vibrant colors typical of a limited-edition figure. The "FAN TOM AXE" was also beautiful, a guitar that, when placed on the character, seemed as if he could play it and play a melody at any moment, and "FAN TOM GTI," that very gothic car that represented much more to Max, since in his early days he collected collectible toy cars, and this one was totally superior to any he had before. From its wheels to a small mechanism that made the lights turn on. But the coolest thing that impressed both boys were some cards it came with, which were holographic, that with every slight tilt made it seem as if they came to life, which were undoubtedly his favorite.

Once, Sam helped Max place "FAN TOM" and his accessories in their designated place on the shelf. Both friends viewed it as a victory and an achievement. Max placed the cards in a small album, leaving the "FAN TOM GTI" one in a special envelope, tucked into his wallet as a token and reminder of what that day had been like. At the same time, every time he saw it, he would remember the smile of the boy who had obtained his figurine, and his own smile after his great feat, obtaining the limited edition for that Halloween and preparing himself with even more energy for the next adventure...
