One of my first childhood collections: "Family Library" [ENG/ESP]

Hello everyone, as is typical at the beginning of each year, I'm doing some cleaning and organizing to get things off to a good start. Among all the things I found, I discovered a collection I thought was lost or somewhere else, and seeing it filled me with emotion. It's a collection of books from many years ago, and it's actually my first book collection. I enjoyed it immensely because of the wide variety of topics and, above all, the unique box they came in, which resembles a Happy Meal box. So, taking this opportunity, today I'll be talking about "The Family Library."

Hola a todos, como en todos los inicios de año, se realizan limpiezas y demás organizaciones a modo de iniciar bien y con paso positivo, y entre tantas cosas apareció una colección que yo consideraba perdida o en otro lugar y que al verla me hizo emocionar, ya que se trata de una colección de libros de muchos años atrás y que en sí es mi primera colección de libros, la cual disfrutaba mucho por la cantidad de variaciones de temas que se encuentran y sobre todo la peculiar caja en la que vienen, la cual asemeja a una cajita feliz. Así que bueno, aprovechando la oportunidad, hoy les hablaré sobre "La Biblioteca Familiar".

To put this in context, as I've mentioned in previous posts, many book collections have been distributed over the years in the country to encourage reading. Among these, in 2003, the Ministry of Culture began distributing this so-called "Family Library," printed in Cuba. The aim was to reach schools and children, providing them with access to a wide variety of readings, ranging from history and national heroes to my favorite part: a variety of novels, poems, and well-known stories. The collection consists of 25 volumes in this unique and eye-catching box.

Para ponerlos en contexto, como ya les he mencionado en anteriores posts, hubo muchas colecciones de libros que se han entregado a lo largo de los años en el país a modo de incentivar la lectura, y entre estas, en el año 2003, se comenzó a repartir esta llamada "Biblioteca familiar" por medio del Ministerio de Cultura e impresos en Cuba, que buscaban llegar a las escuelas y a niños para que tuvieran acceso a una gran variedad de lecturas que comprendían desde historia y próceres hasta mi parte favorita, que son una variedad de novelas, poesías y cuentos conocidos, siendo un total de 25 tomos que vienen en esta peculiar y llamativa caja.

Featuring a variety of authors such as Pablo Neruda, Miguel de Cervantes, Horacio Quiroga, Daniel Defoe, Andrés Eloy Blanco, William Shakespeare, Alfonso Rumazo González and even the Brothers Grimm, it includes titles such as The Little Prince, One Thousand and One Nights, Romeo and Juliet, Across the Caribbean Sea, Robinson Crusoe, The Six Swans, a compilation of exemplary novels, a selection of classic stories called Once Upon a Time and various works ranging from classics such as the stories of Horacio Quiroga to volumes about Simón Bolívar throughout history.

Con una variedad de autores como Pablo Neruda, Miguel de Cervantes, Horacio Quiroga, Daniel Defoe, Andrés Eloy Blanco, William Shakespeare, Alfonso Rumazo González e incluso los hermanos Grimm, trae ejemplares como El principito, Las mil y una noches, Romeo y Julieta, Por el mar de las Antillas, Robinson Crusoe, Los seis cisnes, un compilado de novelas ejemplares, una selección de cuentos clásicos llamados Érase una vez y diversas obras que van desde clásicas como las historias de Horacio Quiroga hasta tomos sobre Simón Bolívar a través de la historia.

And although these books aren't printed on very thick paper, but rather on a sheet more like newsprint, the simple yet dedicated aesthetic is striking. One of the things I like about this collection is not only the variety but also the selection of authors and the way these stories are presented. In some volumes, we can see illustrations appropriate to each theme. For the time, and compared to other collections, this one simply aimed to emphasize reading without any distinction or hidden agenda. This approach managed to attract attention and made this little book box highly sought after for years. Many wanted to acquire it because it not only provided a useful study tool for subjects that required reading, but the inclusion of the Brothers Grimm's book and The Six Swans, as well as other titles that weren't commonly distributed by the government at that time, made it even more appealing.

Y es que, aunque estas no estén impresas en un papel muy grueso, sino en una hoja más a lo que es periódico, hace notar la estética simple pero dedicada de esto, ya que una de las cosas por las que me gusta es no solo por la variedad, sino por la selección de autores y la forma de plasmar estas historias, ya que en algunos ejemplares podemos ver ilustraciones adecuadas a la temática de cada uno, que para los años y en comparación con otras colecciones, esta solo buscaba enfatizar la lectura sin ninguna distinción o enfoque oculto, cosa que logró llamar la atención e hizo que esta cajita feliz de libro llegara por años a ser cotizada, muchos en querer adquirir , pues no solo ayudaba a tener una herramienta para estudio en materias que requerían lectura, sino que incluso el libro de los hermanos Grimm y Los seis cisnes, así como otros que no eran comunes para la distribución por el Estado en esos años, hacía que fuera más llamativo.

For many years I enjoyed the stories in this collection and used some of them for my homework, which became indispensable and created memories of fables that still remain in my mind. To explain each story, I would have to dedicate an individual post to the ones that are most representative to me, which I will share with you soon. Por muchos años disfruté de los cuentos que trae esta colección y utilicé algunos para mis tareas, cosa que se volvió indispensable y generó ese recuerdo con fábulas que aún permanecen en mi memoria, por lo que para explicar cada ejemplar tendría que dedicar una publicación individual a los más representativos para mí, cosa que pronto les compartiré, por lo que, sin más, esperando sea de su agrado, muchas gracias por leer.
