Blood C (2011) - [ENG/ESP]

We then focus on the life of Saya Kisaragi, a young high school student who lives in a small village with her father. As the daughter of a priestess, she is tasked with eliminating demons called "Furukimono," which seem to appear periodically and consume humans. Under her father's training and preparation at the temple where they live, she manages to defeat them and maintain peace in the village. This becomes an everyday occurrence for her, and beyond a mission, it doesn't prevent her from being cheerful and happy... or at least, that's what we are initially led to believe as a false premise in the plot.

Nos centramos entonces en la vida de Saya Kisaragi, una joven estudiante de secundaria que vive en una pequeña aldea con su padre, y al ser hija de una sacerdotisa, tiene que encargarse de eliminar a unos demonios llamados "Furukimono", los cuales parecen estar apareciendo cada cierto tiempo y que consumen humanos, y que, bajo el entrenamiento y preparación de su padre en el templo donde viven, logra vencerlos y así mantener la paz en el lugar, siendo para ella algo cotidiano y que, más allá de una misión, no impide que sea alguien alegre y feliz… o bueno, es lo que en un principio se nos da a entender como primicia falsa en la trama.

The truth is that, as the chapters progress, we begin to see a backdrop and staging of what seems to be something that everyone knows except her: how people disappear and no one remembers them later, or how everything is intact from one trip to the next, the peacefulness of the place being the most striking thing that something is not right in that place, and the only one who doesn't seem to notice it is Saya, and thus begins to show its category of gore in its maximum splendor once the pieces of the game are revealed and that mission to protect is nothing more than another act in which everyone is a puppet of a bet and a past.

La verdad es que, conforme avanzan los capítulos, comenzamos a ver un telón y puesta en escena de lo que parece ser algo que todos conocen menos ella, cómo personas desaparecen y nadie las recuerda luego, o cómo es que todo está intacto de una ida a otra, siendo lo pacífico del lugar lo más llamativo de que algo no está bien en ese sitio, y la única que parece no notarlo es Saya, y comenzando así a mostrar tu categoría de gore en su más máximo esplendor una vez que las piezas del juego son develadas y esa misión de proteger no es más que un acto más en el que todos son títeres de una apuesta y un pasado.

Beyond its dark plot that subtly reveals clues through a loop of similar actions, the very fact that it strives to create a sense of intrigue is what makes it so captivating. It's not an anime that immediately reveals what's behind it, and for those watching without prior knowledge of Blood, The Last Vampire, as was my case, it's a complete experience of wanting to uncover, in every moment where Saya has one of her memories, what's true and what's not in what unfolds—from the reason for the amulet she possesses to why no one seems to notice why something always prevents Saya from arriving early, or even more fundamentally, how she unknowingly fed on these monsters.

Más allá de ser una trama oscura y que nos va mostrando pistas en un bucle de acciones similares, el hecho de que buscan dar esa sensación de intriga es justo lo que es llamativo; no es un anime que a primeras muestre qué hay detrás y para los que lo ven sin conocer antes a Blood. The Last Vampire, como fue mi caso, es toda una experiencia de querer conocer en cada pequeño momento donde Saya tiene uno de sus recuerdos qué hay de cierto y qué no en lo que se va aconteciendo, tanto el porqué del amuleto que tiene como el porqué nadie parece notar por qué siempre hay algo que detenga a Saya de llegar temprano, o incluso más allá, cómo es que se alimentó de estos monstruos sin darse cuenta.

The gore scenes are undoubtedly a gem; in my opinion, they're perfectly executed and the kind that stay with you. They don't cause trauma, but they certainly make it a benchmark, especially once the final episodes begin, where those who seemed oblivious to everything are precisely the ones who meet their end. And although one of the things about this anime is that I felt I needed to know more after finishing the episodes, the sense of liberation Saya experiences once everything is revealed makes that need disappear.

Las escenas gore son sin duda una joya; a mi parecer, tienen todo el gusto y son de esas que no se van de la mente. No generan trauma, pero sí hacen que sea un referente, sin duda, y más una vez que comienzan los capítulos finales, donde aquellos que parecían ignorar todo son justamente los que tienen su final. Y aunque ciertamente una de las cosas que tiene este anime es que en su momento sentí que necesitaba saber más de este una vez terminó sus capítulos, es que la sensación de liberar que experimenta Saya una vez se conoce todo hace que no esté esta necesidad de más.

Regarding the movie, I personally had high expectations when I found out it was coming out (since I saw it the same year it was released); however, in my personal opinion, it didn't have the same emotional impact as the anime. Yes, it does provide closure to this alternate storyline. Yes, the alternate storyline, I feel, strayed too far from the essence of the original and, in my opinion, it's not one of the best; however, as I said, that's just my opinion. Even so, it remains one of the anime I've enjoyed the most, setting aside the fact that it's an alternate sequel, since I thoroughly enjoyed it when I first saw it.

Con respecto a la película, personalmente tenía muchas expectativas cuando me enteré de que había salido (ya que la vi en el mismo año que salió); sin embargo, a mi gusto personal, no tuvo la misma explosión de emoción que el anime. Sí, bien da un cierre a esta trama alternativa. Sí, la alternativa, siento que se alejó mucho de la esencia de este y, a gusto mío, no es de las mejores; sin embargo, como dije, es lo que opino. Aun así, no deja de ser uno de los animes que más me han gustado, dejando de lado el tema de ser una secuela alternativa, ya que la disfruté mucho cuando la vi en su momento.

So, it's good, it's very good to recommend regardless of whether you know the story behind it or not. And if the gore was very shocking for those who saw it back in the day, I feel it can generate the same feeling, since it's one of the gems of anime and gore from my point of view.
